OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOhhh !!!!
« À première vue, des broches de porcelaine fine, encadrées d’une gracieuse dentelle d’or ou d’argent. Un paysage vallonné ? une forme végétale, minérale, animale peut-être ? Mais non, si le regard s’attarde un peu trop sur l’objet, le scrute en détail,c’est… « Mon Dieu, quelle horreur, mais c’est un sexe ! » A-t-on jamais dit à Carole Deltenre que « la chose » ne se montrait pas en public sans en perturber l’ordre ? Que cet endroit du monde, que certains ont nommé « L’Origine », devait rester àjamais bien caché ? Dans cette série de médaillons évoquant une longue tradition du camée, l’artiste ne se contente pas d’une «représentation» picturale mais, en moulant sur modèle vivant, produit des portraits détaillés d’une nature biensingulière. Dans ce processus de production, l’intervention du modèle importe autant que celle de l’artiste, invitant chacuneà prendre au pied de la lettre le slogan désormais célèbre du mouvement féministe « notre corps nous appartient ». Ici,chacune doit assumer sa propre intimité pour l’exhiber au grand jour. Carole Deltenre - « Nymphes » - 2007 – 2009 – broches, porcelaine, argent – de 3 à 10 cm
« At first glance, one sees fine porcelain brooches framed by delicate gold lace or silver. What do they depict… is that a hilly andscape? Are those forms animal, vegetal or mineral? Wait a minute! If the eye lingers a bit to scrutinize the details, itbecomes obvious that one is looking at – «Good Lord – a female sex organ !». Didn’t anybody ever tell Carole Deltenre that ne cannot expose genitalia in public without disturbing the peace? Or that the female sex organ, sometimes referred toas «the origin of the world» is always supposed to be well concealed? In this series of medallions, which draws on a long radition of cameo-making, the artist does not stop at pictorial «representation» but makes castings from living models, yielding detailed portraits that are quite singular. This process of production involves the model as much as the artist and invites each woman to take the well-known feminist publication «Our Bodies, Ourselves» literally. Each woman mustembrace her own sexuality before exhibiting it to the world. Taking the full frontal (anatomical) approach, Carole Deltenre has created works that are light-hearted yet profoundly tragic. PS : eh bien, je vais vous dire le fond de ma pensée ! pour rien au monde je ne porterais ces broches : j’aurais trop peur qu’on me dise « ooh ! c’est votre … euuuuh … ? »
