EXPO « Public Displays of Attention » 10-21 May 2011 – at First Site Gallery, 360 Swanston Street, Melbourne
Second solo exhibition of « up and coming » Melbourne jeweller, Claire McArdle
« Public Displays of Attention is the second solo exhibition for Claire McArdle, a high-achieving RMIT Gold and Silvrersmithing Honours student. Shopgirl was blown away by the quality and sheer scale of the show. The exhibition is part performance part interactive as Claire invites willing participants to pose with her colossally colourful hand dyed, hand woven and hand spun jewellery. When all is said and done she’ll send you a postcard that captures the experience! Magnific! Shopgirl met with Claire at First Site Gallery and asked her to strike her best pose with her work«
« This attention grabbing jewellery creates a visual voice which cries out joyously to the many strangers we encounter everyday during city life. Colossal and colourful, these pieces all carry an urge to be connected to others. They create a shared experience for both the wearer and the viewer as they become part of one of the many Public Displays of Attention. »

« At the opening people could try on their preferred piece and see if it attracted the right amount of attention for them. As well as having a photo with their favourite as a souvenir. » – LOVE this serie of pictures to see here !
