EXPO ‘Daniel Kruger: Jewellery’ – Galerie RA, Amstedam (NL) – 14 Mai-6 Juill. 2011
The upcoming exhibition at Galerie Ra features jewellery by Daniel Kruger and Silvia Weidenbach. Kruger has taught at the Hochschule für Kunst und Design, Burg Giebichenstein, in Halle since 2003. Weidenbach studied under him before continuing her studies at the Royal College of Art, London, where she graduates in June.
Daniel Kruger cannot be categorised according to a particular style or manner of working. His work surprises because of its unexpected forms, colour or use of material. He draws inspiration from examples from history or from other countries, but always adding his own personal twist. This exhibition features his silver jewellery, partly coloured with pigment, partly flexible and mobile so that the pieces may be worn in different ways.

Silvia Weidenbach jewellery
Silvia Weidenbach is interested in dualism: in perfection and destruction, beauty and aversion, the accidental and calculated, chaos and control or the part and the whole. This is expressed in her jewellery, made from traditional materials like copper with enamel, in old and ancient processes like forging and melting. Choosing the right moment to stop such a dynamic process gives these seemingly rough works an immense power and vitality.
