International contemporary enamel jewellery  – Curated by Jessica Turrell

 

Part I: 7th October to 5th November 2011 at Electrum

Over the last few years there has been a significant revival of interest in enamel with a number of contemporary jewellers developing new ways of working with enamel that enable them to create exciting and innovative work.

This exhibition showcases the work of thirty jewellers of international standing who, through a varied set of practices, take enamel well beyond its traditional boundaries.

The title, Surface and Substance, has been chosen to emphasize that while this is clearly an exhibition that focuses on the use of vitreous enamel – the surface – of equal importance is the ‘substance’ that underpins the work on display; the thinking and the research, which along with the obvious material knowledge and skill, is evident in the striking and individual pieces on show.

ALLIAGES EXPOSE SYLVIE JOUSSET

Après un parcours dans la communication à Paris, puis à Bruxelles, la passion du bijou contemporain conduit Sylvie Jousset à s’exprimer à travers une autre forme de communication: l’expression artistique. La création de bijoux, mode d’expression qu’elle manie avec curiosité et parfois humour, s’est imposée à elle comme un véritable vecteur d’émotions.

Formée aux Arts et Métiers à Bruxelles (sections Bijouterie-Joaillerie et Bijouterie Contemporaine), elle obtient avec haute distinction son diplôme de Bijouterie-Joaillerie en juin 2010.

Membre fondateur du collectif de bijouterie contemporaine Bijou5 en 2008, elle a déjà à son actif plusieurs expositions à Bruxelles.

MEANDRES
Chronos, passage du temps…
… qui déroule les rubans de ses jours et de ses années
… qui imprime sur notre « colonne vertébrale » les méandres de la vie
… et qui laisse en chacun de nous une « géographie » unique, enrichie au fil des expériences…

Vernissage le jeudi 6 octobre 2011 de 18h à 20h30 en compagnie de l’artiste.Horaires :
