EXPO ‘MISUN WON: Jogakbo and the Fractal geometry’ – 15 Mars-5 Mai 2012

Classé dans : Belgique (BE),Exposition/Exhibition,GALERIES,Misun WON (S.Kr) — bijoucontemporain @ 22:17

Jogakbo and the Fractal geometry BY MISUN WON

In the first Misun Won’s solo exhibition ‘Jogakbo and the Fractal geometry’, she wants to associate the beauty of playful rhythmical structure with her jewelleries. The latest collections reflect her inspiration from the geometrical composition of Korean patchworks ‘Jogakbo’. As the composition of Jogakbo is based on nature, she employed the fractal geometry in order to analyse the complex compositions of Jogakbo. Her in-depth study in the Fractal geometry and Jogakbo helped her to create dynamic structures for her latest collection. Her meditative making process is an act of pray for the wearers as the act of imbuing auspicious qualities with her jewelleries parallels the wish of ancient Korean housewives, who made Jogakbo for their family members.
After graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 2008 with a master degree, she worked at the College as an artist in residence and a visiting lecturer. She won a gold award for Fashion Production Jewellery in Goldsmiths’ Craftsmanship & Design Award in 2008. She has been exhibiting her jewellery in UK, Europe, and USA. Now she is working in her cozy studio at Coburg House Art Studios & Gallery in Leith, Edinburgh.

EXPO ‘… Dal silenzio’ – Marijke Studio, Padova (IT) – 20 Avril-20 Juin 2012

Marijke Studio presents:
Julia Maria Künnap (Estonia) – Janna Syvanoja (Finland) – Castello Hansen (Denmark).

« In a noisy world, silence can be a luxury »
Marijke Studio presents 3 jewellery designers from the north of Europe: Estonia, Finland, Denmark.
Hansen and Kunnap, exhi areiting for the first time in Italy, (education and, at the present, teachers at Tallinn and Copenhagen Art Academies); Syvanoya studied at Helsinki Industrial Design Institute and is showing for the second time at Marijke Studio. The artist have works in private and public collections and are exhibiting in the major international jewelry galleries and museums.

On show a fifty jewellery pieces in natural materials (obsidian, quartz, ebony, recicled-paper, gold),
and in synthetic materials as cybatool, reconstructed coral. Each of the artists uses a very clean, recognizable language, achieving appealing, abstract, poetical forms.

EXPO ‘Paula Lindblom: Var Dag – Arki Päiva’ – Galleria Jänis, Turku (Finland) – 22 Avril-18 Mai 2012

Paula Lindblom : Var Dag – Arki Päiva

22-Apr-2012 – 18-May-2012

Paula Lindblom

« Every day – each day like the next, but not quite….
Humour, warmth and austerity – three words I associate with my jewellery. I experience colour and shape in almost everything in my surroundings. There is inspiration to be found in everything -  in a meeting, a shape, a feeling, a reflection, a movement, in a text and so on…
Nothing is too small and insignificant so as not to be taken seriously – everything has a meaning at any given time or place. I make unique, wearable sculptural pieces of jewellery that are free-standing sculptures when they are not worn on the body. The size of jewellery and the fact that it is worn on the body interests me and that is why I have chosen to work with jewellery as an art form. I choose my materials from what I find around me, at home, on a walk or at a flea market… ideas and issues decide my choice of material. What interests me is to give the materials new energy, to put materials and objects into a new context; jewellery, based on today’s consumer society. I want the original materials to shine through, first I want the viewer to see and experience the piece of jewellery, but then at a second glance I hope the viewer recognizes the materials/ objects I have used, life is revealed if you take the time, time past and present emerge into each other and create a new story….. «   Paula Lindblom
