ARTIST STATEMENT
The extraordinary power of objects is obtained because people believe in them. The more mundane the objects are, the more powerful they become. My practice contextualizes the embodied energy that is submerged beneath the layers of vintage leather gloves. The fragments of ordinary gloves convey a tactile and erotic interaction, emphasizing the physical movements between certain parts of body and garments. When the body is absent, the empty, internal structure retains evidence of human existence. It remains full of authentic spirit and fantasy.
Through the processes of deconstructing and reconstructing materials into symbolic forms, I uncover the intimate and sensual power of humanity. The individual records and stories from the gloves turn into something that is universally relatable. Yet, it loops back to the idea of private at the same time. When the broad concept of primitive and elemental human desire meets the audience or wearer, it encourages them to find his or her own sensations and conclusions of desire. It is a moment when ordinary objects become surreal and uncanny in order to redeem the socially constructed expectations and perceptions.

ARKIVET (the Archive) is a group of Norwegian artists consisting of Putte H. Dal, Hilde Dramstad, Elsie-Ann Hochlin, Camilla Luihn and Heidi Sand.
As jewelry artists they each have their artistic distinction. What they have in common is that they like to apply a theme based and conceptual approach to their craft. Since their debut as a group in 2014 they have had numerous exhibitions both in Norway and abroad.
ARKIVET sets out to investigate, through their individual works, different angles on how jewelry may work as a medium to promote dialogue in society today. Projects are developed through discussion and research with a common wish to bring jewelry as an artistic expression into contemporary society. As an example ideological, socialist, capitalist or ecological values may be analysed and processed through jewelry to artistic expression that fosters reflection.
The jewelry materials, artistic idiom and narrative content discusses concepts in the context of sitespecific exhibition design. For each project ARKIVET reaches out to interdisciplinary collaborators such as musicians, writers and philosophers, and ARKIVET also publishes annual publications.
In the WORTHLESS project the group wishes to explore how worth or value is perceived in today’s society. What makes something valuable? What is worthless? ARKIVET promotes a visual and mental association space for a discourse about the social and economic mechanisms that govern what is considered valuable. ARKIVET emphasizes the communicative aspects of jewelry and chooses to reveal something about human dignity, political aspects, self-esteem and the environment.

« This collection has been created as a need to express my experience of being a new parent. When I observed all internal and external changes of the pregnant body, I embraced all the emotional ups and downs that we both had. I kept the storm of feelings created the moment we saw our baby and hold it in our arms and finally I stood amazed at the magnificent process of breast feeding. All these became the fragments of time at my beginning on the way to parenting.

« The human body is a space. The human body takes up space. The human body is the separator of an inside and an outside space.
How do these spaces interact with each other? Are they interconnected or out of balance? How do human beings deal with the condition of being the mediator?
Maybe there is no distinct answer but the exploration of these questions through the notion of materiality might be an answer in itself. »

New amazing work by Victoria Ioannidou jewelry-object designer, maker
“ THE UNBAREABLE LIGHTNES OF CO EXISTENCE”
The time has come to leave behind and part ways with all that is negative and preserve the quality of my life
because I am the one who will choose …to give up….. to live in the past…. to loose my pride..to fear…
OR to react… to feel anger… to fight ..and finally to move on.
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” ― Mae West
so………………..
I had to destroy the path ,leave no trace, so the evil could not follow me

SECOND EDITION OF TRESORS, AN EXHIBITION OF CATALAN CONTEMPORARY JEWELRY.
TRESORS is a creative activity in constant evolution which aims at highlighting formal and personal individuality. It is where the concept of “content” takes up all of its meaning and importance.
Starts a dialogue between the creator, the wearer and the spectator, which initiates a symbolic communication on all of what entails from the artists’ creation and interpretation.
Let’s open up to a new vision of the jewelry, that goes beyond its ornamental property.

Set of Jewelry it’s a composition of objects in porcelain displayed on a porcelain tray.

Zhou YiyanComing from the province of Anhui in the east of China, Zhou Yiyan studied art and design at the Shanghai Normal University, and then worked as a graphic designer for four years before settling in Paris in 2007 to pursue her artistic studies in photography and fashion design at Berçot Studio.
She subsequently developed a collection of art objects in porcelain that are inspired by her fascination for circles in Chinese culture, and that are worn as jewellery. Each item is unique and created by the artist in a contemporary ceramics studio. Featuring glossy or matt enamel, gilded or left untreated, each piece requires a long period of design work and perfect technical mastery in order to adapt the artisanal processes of ceramics to suit the desired form.
In 2016, Zhou Yiyan was among the 5 winners of the Young Creative Craftsworkers Award, which has been run by the Ateliers d’Art de France since 1960 with a view to revealing new faces from the vanguard of crafts in France.
Also, last year, in spring, Yiyan was noticed by Esther de Beaucé who selected a dozen pieces for Yiyan ‘s solo exhibition :“Circles”, which was held at Esther’s MiniMasterpiece Gallery. The gallery also showed Yiyan’s work at PAD PARIS ART+DESIGN, and ART ÉLYSÉES Art & Design, along with pieces by contemporary artists and designers.
In these porcelain circles, inspired by the traditional circles of Chinese culture and embroidery rings, Yiyan metaphorically retranscribes the complexity of human society, of the ties between people which build into circles (family, friends…) She primarily reveals the joy that she experiences when she spends a full day in the company of the “soft and modest clay” which she discovered at the Manufacture de Sèvres.
Yiyan exhibits her works in international Fine Craft & Creation Biennial taking place in Grand Palais, Paris.
 Zhou Yiyan interviewed by Klimt02

« The shapes in my work are universal due to my inspiration in the nature and old cultures, the way I use these shapes in my object and the material I use are makes it singular. »

« Some years ago I used to believe: “my education and experience in architecture is guiding my creativity and my work is mostly determined by the interest to compose fine metals with alternative material and define new forms.”
Later on I concretised my thoughts stating: “Architecture is built environments, planned and designed to function as shelter or vessels of activities and thus it is fostering a physical relationship with the user, inhabitant or viewer. Jewelry takes this physical relationship further into intimacy by the change of scale and placement on the body. Through my work, I find it intriguing to explore ideas of space, scale and absence of symmetry, enabling me to combine precious metals with non-precious elements. Designing jewelry feels like investigating form, structure, and balance to derive a piece of art which will have an intimate physical relationship with the human body and will be completed only when it becomes part of the wearer’s experience and expression. A piece of jewelry is a powerful vehicle for communicating our identity.”
Recently I realized that my curiosity is the most powerful motivating factor behind my work. I’m curious to see things that I visualize becoming facts, to elaborate an idea, to experiment on a certain technique, to see how this or that material is treated, to investigate on however a vision can be a wearable object and yet to see how others perceive my work. »

COUP de COEUR …. BLACK is BLACK with Tiina Rajakallio

Tiina Rajakallio
Finnish artist Tiina Rajakallio in Rome the 10th of may 2017, for the first time for a solo exhibition of contemporary jewelry at myday-byday space in Via Luca della Robbia 76, Testaccio. Gallery hours 10 30/19 30.
myday-byday ‎ Tiina Rajakallio in Rome on 10 may 2017
» I am thinking about the present-day Western people and their connection with nature.
How natural the contact is? Is it romanticized, magical, run by economical efficiency or totally gone? Are we still part of the nature? And what is the relationship between spirituality and nature contact?
We have always been dependent on nature that is providing us the essentials of life. But is the aim for a never-ending growth and progress made us think everything here is only for us? «  Tiina Rajakallio
Myday-byday interview to Tiina Rajakallio:
1) Where is your inspiration coming from ?
Widely speaking I’m interested in everyday life of a contemporary Western people. I’m working with questions that intrigues or troubles me, things I would like to have a conversation about. And of course there is a lot of curiosity towards the body, communication and a piece of jewellery involved.
2) What are you trying to communicate in particular with your artwork?
It depends. At the moment I would like people to think about their own relationship with nature but also the common contact we have with it. I would like my work raises thoughts, I’m not to judge anyone, it would be hypocrite to do that.
3) Which material you prefer to use and why ?
It depends of the theme of the work. In an ideal situation the material tells the same story and even adds something to it. At the moment I use a lot of wood and combine it for example with recycled rubber. An old inner tube of tractor or bicycle, even it may be a bit old-fashioned as an object, it tells about our culture and our creative ability to utilize our surrounding. The material is protective, elastic and doesn’t decay really. Even there is some natural rubber in the mixture, it reminds many people about oil.
4) How much value do you give to researching material for your creations?
Of course there is some material research needed. But if it means new technical solutions and extraordinary inventions my works are rather simple in that sense.

5) Is it more important for you the process, or the final artwork itself?
Both are important. I love that hands-in investigation part of a work. But sooner or later there is a deadline waiting and you just need to start to make decisions. However every step is leading me further and to me ready pieces are also steps of the same process. The difference is many times the ready pieces are the only steps others will see.

6) Is there an artist you prefer and why ?
I admire many artists. Some because of their clever and brave ideas, some because of theis technical skills or expression, honesty and dedication.

7) Have you ever thought to collaborate with other artists , or you like to work on your own?
I love working on my own, but time to time it would be interesting to try to share the process with someone else. I have collaborated with other jewellery artists but it would be really interesting to do that with artists from another field. 8) Where do you feel you are at with this last collection?
It is a one step further from the series I called White Moments. I’m like walking around the same source inspired by the different aspects of it. I seem to go back and forth sometimes when there are so many sides to be discovered.

9) What have you discovered of yourself, are you sattisfied ?
I think I learned more about my own ability to endure stress, priorities and time managemenent and that one can’t cope totally alone.

10) Two words to describe your last artwork collection.
Still together?
