In an age of globalization when artists travel to numerous places, how relevant is their nationality in an artistic context?
What do we mean when we talk about Portuguese, Mexican and Brazilian contemporary art in the 21st century’?
What do we mean when we say that jewelry can identify a people and a culture?
What do we mean when we talk about Portuguese, Mexican and Brazilian contemporary art in the 21st century’?
Why do we mean when we say that a people and a culture can be identified by their jewelry?
Could it nowadays only identify an epoch?
// question the cultural identity and heritage of participating artists
// display works without showing the artists’ names and nationalities
// look at the way jewelry manufacturing undergoes changes and is affected by other materials and techniques
// reflect on concepts of identity and the way our past surfaces in the present
// foster a debate on the response of the public and reveal the artists’ names and nationalities when the event closes
Draw up the themes that PIN elected to embody the Twenty-Three. Contemporary Jewelry in the Ibero-America exhibition to promote a reflection on contemporary manufacturing that will make us re-think the cultural heritage of each artist and the relations this establishes.
Each of the 23 areas that make up the exhibition plan where the pieces are displayed represents a member nation of UCCI – Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities.
The artists’ names and nationalities are not displayed in order that their cultural identity and heritage can be probed and questioned.
The public is invited to seek the origin of each group of artists and interact in loco by trying to discover their nationality – and leave a flag sticker at each area.

OFF JOYA 2016 - "VERSUS" Muestra colectiva de joyería artistica. Color Triciclo taller/galeria

» (colorTriciclo)

Ten jewelry makers in pairs, meeting each others to do a “face to face” to carry out a project with as inspiration the work of the other. VERSUS is not a confrontation, but it’s the opportunity to work as the other works, trying to understand his point of view, to feel it through our hands.

As the artists tell us: « Versus is a way of getting in touch with the world of a person who you share a lot of experiences with. We came out from our bubble where we often isolate ourselves: we could be free of trying new things and – in some ways – able to think of ourselves. »

During the exhibition and in addition it, the 6th of October we’re going to invite you at the performance by the artist Amira Jalet into the gallery. It will be a night about creative synergies and the same interpretation of the VERSUS concept.

On Thursday October 6th 2016 at 19.00 h, an open door event to anyone who would like to participate actively :
Inferno by artist Amira Jalet will show us her creative process with sculpture.
La artista hará una escultura en vivo dentro de la galería, inspirándose en El Inferno de Dante Alighieri.
The idea of creating something in movement came up about one year ago in a middle of the afternoon when artist-jewelry designer Amira Jalet met gallery managers, Costanza Nannoni and Adele Giuntini at Color Triciclo. In a short time they connected to each other and decided  to work together. The first exhibit inspiration was the Amira’s wish of connecting her two creative impulses, Jewelry and Sculpture. In her art process they are not separate: the only difference is about dimension.
The Live Art Night  came up by this topic: the wish of sharing opinions about the division among the arts and considering them as a unity, as different aspects of the same person.By sculpture, Amira show teach us the experimental process of charcoal’s use, its many possibilities and the technique of hardening that she employs to ensure  the preservation of the  art works over time. The artist always takes care of studying different and unusual materials to create jewelry’s pieces: this year she has chosen charcoal in relation to Dante’s Inferno.
As Amira says: « Inferno is something that rises from ashes… it defends the bowels of the strength , the rebirth of what we almost lost, the last roar of a material as if all that remains were ruin.  It dresses up with transformation that almost completely consumed from its inner part and rises as an immortal masterpiece thanks to an explosion of magnificent feature. »

EXPO ‘The After Joya effect – 6000 FRAGMENTS / THE FLOATING ISLANDS’ – Popeye Loves Olive, Athens (Greece) – 22 Mai-20 Juin 2015 dans Exposition/Exhibition - - X: « The after Joya Effect” * is an Exhibition that took place for the first time at Popeye loves Olive – Art Space, that aimed to the interaction and the transformation of individuality to collaboration, diversity to unification and exchange to sharing. It was inspired by the jewelry exchange inProject01 that held in Joya 2013. From 23/04/2014 – 30/06/2014, the project evolved in five solo exhibitions of Greek artists and one group exhibition of thirty five International artists. This year, every participating artist will create a unique (unreleased) piece, inspired by the “6000 Fragments – The Floating Islands” project. During the event, once again, the public will vote for their favorite artist, who will be invited for a solo exhibition at Popeye loves Olive. *The idea is to promote the Joya Project in Greece (artists selected by “Le Department” and exhibited in Joya Exhibition in October 2013 – 2014).
6000 Fragments / The Floating Islands :In Greece, there are 6,000 islands, islets and rocks. These holy seascapes connect spiritually, mentally and materially their inhabitants through the images that feed the senses. The second edition of “The after Joya effect” is inspired by the uniqueness of this physical experience in 6000 fragments. The Second Edition will be held between 22/05/15 – 20/06/2015.

What I want to capture in my piece is my childhood memories: the red color, the loom, the women’s introversion, the natural dyes, the noise when they were weaving… »

Ismini Pachi "Midnight Summer Dream" presented at "The After Joya Effect II 6000 Fragmentes-The floating Islands", Popeye Loves Olive gallery, 2015: Ismini Pachi - Midnight Summer DreamIron, Pvc, Monofilament, Magnets « The starry sky, the aquatic landscape, the underwater organisms: all the elements that, in my opinion, define Greek islands the best. In this work I intend to create a commemorative collage, composed by the objects-carriers of the sense derived from summer scenery »

« I fly high, around 6000ft above land. How much beauty can be contained in these natural sculptures that float in the sea? It’s like some divine entity has carefully placed them there to be admired. Sketches of brown and blue with strokes of white candy. In an attempt to capture this scenery, I created my own island, something small to touch. Is it enough? I have a craving feeling to trigger the senses, so I cut it in smaller pieces. I need to play. I deconstruct my island and I recompose it differently. Again and again. And I travel. Continuously… »
Akis Goumas - The journey.. Silver, copper, thread, pigments. Akis Goumas – The journey.. Silver, copper, thread, pigments
« In my recent body of work I seek the relationship between memories and self-awareness. A journey to Ithaca. Remnants of feelings, fragments of images, small findings, experiences of time introduce the elements of this weaving procedure. Dry landscapes, bright sun light, clear blue seas, white Cycladic walls compose the layers of this fresco. Aegean culture lies between myth and reality. »

« I created these little bricks, as a reference to the 6000 islands, which individually may seem vulnerable, but together they form a Single entity, a Force that which allows to each other to survive. »

« We relate to the world that surrounds us through senses, our « windows to the soul ». The ancient Greek philosophers named five yet our perception is endowed with far more. Apparently, when we are old we lose 40 seconds at every 3 minutes that we perceive. My work is about the images that could have been seen, the sounds that could have been heard, the touch of the sand, the smell and taste of the sea that could have, but never was, felt in 40 seconds that were lost. It is about 40 broken moments suspended in time. »

« I chose textile as the language of the silent woman by the name Arachne according to a Greek myth. Shadow folding, is an origami fabric folding technique that uses the ritual stitch, in a circle repetitive shape, as the endless map of the Greek islands, with no beginning or end »
