EXPO ‘BASALT- Volcanic bijoux’ – Geological Museum, Ramat Hasharon (IL) – 26 Sept. 2016-31 Janv. 2017

BASALT- Volcanic bijoux -

Soon in the  Geological Museum  -

Opening on Monday September 26th, 20h30

An international exhibition that reunites 25 artists from Europe and Israel who have created jewelry especially for this show, utilizing basalt as the central motif.
Taking into consideration the unique properties of this igneous rock – its natural structure, color and texture – the artists have created pieces that provoke questions about preciousness, esthetics, mythology and beliefs.
The exhibition was originally shown in Agde, France (a city built from basalt) in 2015 and was re-curated for the Geological Museum in Ramat HaSharon. / Jean-Yves Le Mignot, Curator, Rachel Sasporta, Curator in charge

Friday 23 October 2015: opening ceremony and Prize awarding Master Prize and Young Talent Prize and Mons 2015 Prize At the Grand Hall of the « Anciens Abattoirs » of Mons Exhibition from 24 October 2015 until 10 January 2016

Resultat of the call to the artists from the European Union countries. Each discipline within the applied arts, as well as design, photography,…

Vanity is a theme as old as the existence of Art itself. “Remember you will die” whispered the slave to the Roman General during the triumphs. Nowadays, this superstition which became obsession cannot be hidden. Her rebirth in the Contemporary Art is such that Vanity has become true fashion or a lifestyle. “Vanitas vanitatum, omnia vanitas”. How better than the current age of technology and overconsumption to update this adage? In this month of the dead, Omnia Vanitas proposes a stop in space-time, a time for reflexion to ask themselves the right questions once again.
On this occasion, the WCC-BF and the Koma Gallery exposed 62 artists from Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, France, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Finland and Estonia. In their own way, each of them present their personal interpretation of death and Vanity. As in the exhibition of the European Price for Applied Arts, the artworks will be seen with all the contemplation and the reflexion it requires. In its own way, Omnia will propose to visitors a more intimate perspective on our relationship with life and death.

JEWELLERY ART POETRY AND GEOMETRY
Annamaria Zanella and Renzo Pasquale Exhibition  For the period of the Vienna Festival the Slavik Gallery is presenting a special duo exhibition devoted to the work of the artists – and married couple – Annamaria Zanella and Renzo Pasquale. Although they have quite different styles, their jewellery is complementary. Together, their artefacts form a wonderfully harmonious whole.

Annamaria Zanella‘s fascinating jewellery objects are as exciting as they are unusual. In this exhibition she is presenting colourful necklaces made in idiosyncratic materials to which she gives a special finish with elements in gold. But in her diverse and highly imaginative creative world there is also room for glass, enamel and plastics, all radiant with powerful, finely harmonized colours. Every one of her miniature sculptures is an expression of the artist’s breathtaking inner power and bubbling energy. All richly poetic, many also have a special story to tell, such as the « Gala » brooch in silver, enamel and red plastic that she dedicated to Gala Eluard, who was muse and wife to both Paul Eluard and Salvador Dali.

The work of the jewellery artist Renzo Pasquale is permeated by a great love of geometry. Masterfully worked in silver, titanium and plexiglass, his brooch « Olimpico » betrays his admiration for the Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio, whose example has inspired Renzo Pasquale to an oeuvre characterized by aesthetic balance, perfect proportions, and the noble harmony of classical Italian poetry. Also a stonemason by training, he invests his gold rings with a special clarity and liveliness through a precise use of cut lapis lazuli, jasper and agate.

The SCHMUCK is an international exhibition that has been taking place in Munich for more than 50 years. It combines works of established artists and promising newcomers in the area of contemporary jewellery design and is the meeting place for collectors, jewellery lovers and museum curators from Germany and abroad. Organized as a worldwide contest, the works are chosen by an internationally renowned curator each year, this time by Eva Eisler, professor at the Prague Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design (AAAD). “Presenting works at the SCHMUCK is an honor for any jewellery designer“, says Dieter Dohr, Management Board Chairman of the GHM Gesellschaft für Handwerksmessen mbH. That is also why this time, more than 600 gold smiths and jewellery designers from Germany and abroad applied for the special show. In spring 2015, contributions by 63 artists from 21 countries will finally be on display. This time, Karel Novak from the Czech Republic will be honored as the classic of modern art. Highlight of the SCHMUCK will be the awarding of the Herbert-Hofmann-prizes on Saturday, 14 March 2015 at 5 pm on stage in hall B1. On this day, a jury will select the three best works of the SCHMUCK. Each year, a number of accompanying events group around the special show at the Internationale Handwerksmesse in Munich galleries, museums and cultural institutes.

BIJOUX with a HOLE ….

Comme le dit Joo Hyung Park, « Beauty (is) in Imperfection » ….. Même discourspour Brooke Marks-Swanson : « « I am drawn to the beauty of things imperfect, impermanent and incomplete. …..  My object is to cause the viewer to speculate, imagine and to investigate… »
