French Jewellery & Graphic designer Évelie Céline Mouila lives in London.
Her loves are photography, visual communication and accessories.
Mouila learns graphic design in Paris at the Ensaama (National School of Applied Arts and Crafts) to become graphic designer. In 2009, she arrives in London to work at the Christopher Raeburn Studio. While on assignment she got broad fashion knowledge.
In 2011 she starts a Master of Art at the Royal college of Art in London in the Goldsmithing, Silversthing, Metalwork and Jewellery department.
In 2012, she is graduated with the show and a collection called “Juliette”. Her collection emphasizes the actual lines of the body but also create new lines and contours. She creates connections that you don’t normally think about for a piece of jewellery.
After participating at the London Design Festival, this current work will be exhibit at the “Pinakothek Der Moderne” during the Schmuck 2013 which open March 7, 2013 at Munich and at Project Space of COLLECT 2013, the International Art Fair for Contemporary Object in the Saatchi Gallery, London, on 10-13 May 2013.
Currently working alongside Hans Stofer and Michael Rowe, she is curator and visual designer for the Jewellery department of the Royal College of Art

My 2012 collection emphazises the actual lines of the body but also creates new lines and contours. It’s about an intimate feeling of wearing jewelry that only the wearer can feel. Part of the jewelry pieces have direct connection with the skin and are worn hidden underneath the clothes : the other part is the decorative element and is visible.

COUP de COEUR : Farrah Al-Dujaili – three-dimensional sketches

Farrah Al-Dujaili has been choosed by AJF as 2011 year’s EAA (‘Emerging Artist Award’ ) winner. Farrah Al-Dujaili (UK) has been chosen from among 150 entries from 36 countries.

Criteria used in the judging were originality, depth of concept and quality of craftsmanship. Al-Dujaili works within an intuitive mix of drawing and making that crosses over and intertwines.  She applies drawing materials such as pencil, crayons and watercolors to a surface of enamel paint. This gives an interesting material link to the design methodology, enforcing the dialogue between drawing and making.

The goal of the EAA is to acknowledge promise, innovation and individuality in the work of emerging jewelers. The competition is open to makers of art jewelry who have recently completed their professional training. Al-Dujaili will receive a $5000 cash award. In addition, her work will be featured by an AJF member gallery at SOFA NY and in AJF advertisements and she will serve as a juror for next year’s competition.

Jurors for the 2011 competition were Perry A Price, Assistant Curator of Exhibitions and Collections at the Fuller Craft Museum, Brockton, Massachusetts; Marion Fulk, long-standing member of AJF and collector of contemporary jewelry; and Agnes Larsson, jewelry artist and recipient of the AJF’s 2010 Emerging Artist Award.

Perry Price commented, ‘I find this an interesting use of materials: watercolors, pencils and paint; the combination of materials and forms create three-dimensional sketches.’ Agnes Larson added, ‘She is taking techniques from drawings and transforming them well into her pieces.’ Marion Fulk remarked, ‘This was a very interesting and consistent body of work.’

Al-Dujaili received a BA in 2009 and an MFA in 2011 in Silversmithing and Related Products from the School of Jewellery, Birmingham City University, United Kingdom.

Formal announcement of this award, with images of the work, will be made at SOFA New York, April 20–23, 2012.
Her work will also be shown at COLLECT in London, England, May 11–14, 2012.

No need of this celebration to confirm that I REALLY love her work !!

Eleanor BOLTON blues collection at COLLECT 2011 – 6-9 Mai 2011

Eleanor Bolton
« At Collect 2011 I will be launching my new Blues Collection of coiled cotton rope neckpieces. Using the same coiling and stitching technique I developed during my MA at the RCA, I have created a new collection of large-scale neckpieces exploring colour. The collection comprises of five new pieces each made up of sections of unbleached rope and different tones and shades of blue to highlight and emphasise the forms and process of the making. The unbleached rope with its contrasting yarn allows engagement with how the pieces have been made, as the stitching is revealed in the movement of the coils. The boldly dyed rope allows the material and process to become more ambiguous and the forms to become the main focus. »

GALLERIA NORSU takes part in the Collect- art fair for the 5th time.
This year our theme is tradition and re-invention, using traditional methods and materials and treating them with a new twist. The artists approach classic ceramic prints, traditional Finnish rugs and Finnish design glass in a new, conceptual way.
Ceramic artists Caroline Slotte and Kim Simonsson have already successfully been shown before at Collect together with jewellery artist Tarja Tuupanen.
The new names this year are : the young glass artist Riikka Latva-Somppi and the established and well known Finnish glass master Markku Salo, textile artists Silja Puranen (winner of the Nordic Award in Textiles 2009) and the more quiet and conceptual artist Kaija Poijula. Last but not least the jewellery artists Mia Maljojoki and the promising and upcoming talent Sirja Knaapi.

« White is waiting, it is silent, quiet and calm, it is clear and comforting, and frighteningly empty, says jewellery artist Tarja Tuupanen.
Can a blanco portrait tell more than a photo? Is there something more to look at in a white scenery than in he the view from your balcony?
The white cacholong fascinates me. In a natural material all the white shades you can think of. This stone has the perfect atmosphere; it is minimalist and quiet, stagnant but not boring, quite noble even. It looks soft and gentle, but it is not the truth. When you look its whiteness long enough, you start to see some colours.
I do love the northern winter, when everything is covered with snow. It is silent, quiet and calm, clear and comforting and frighteningly empty.
