EXPO ‘Franz Bette : Same but Different’ – National Taiwan Museum, Taipei (Taiwan, R.O.C.) – 10 Mai-15 Juin 2014
« Franz Bette : Same but Different »
« Same but different »
The title of this exhibition, can be understood as a maxim for every new day, a three-month teaching residency in Hong Kong became an involvement lasting two and a half years. Life in Hong Kong is fast and intense, the frenetic energy tends to over stimulate the senses. Sitting down and working with his hands, is Franz Bette’s way of processing what happens around him. Equipped with only the barest of essentials – his own awareness and an abstract visual alphabet - the only possibility to fall back on, improvisation. Somewhere on a sliding scale connecting a succession of contradictions, we indulge in a variety of observations and states of awareness, a constant flow of moments of recognition.
