Eleni Marneri Creative Gallery - ragTag Collective -

Rag Tag Collective consists of six Greek jewelry designers with different personal starting points, whose paths intersect in the name of the contemporary Jewelry design. These totally different starting points give the group a characteristic diversity, ` a « patchwork » of characters and temperaments with a common goal: the expression and communication through contemporary jewelry.

Our common ground and way we have chosen to work, allowed us to create a fertile ground of support, communication and creation. We share a common roof under which we can create and develop our artistic goals. These six unique environments –urban-earthy-natural-psychological-allegorical-dreamy- are these who give a more comprehensive view of how we see ourselves, the others, the world and our time.”

post JOYA 2015, COUPS de COEUR/DECOUVERTES ! Ismini Pachi

Ismini Pachi

Sweet Ismini Pachi ! what happened ? « Nightmare », « Insomnia », « Solitude » ….. ???? What « black black » thoughts emerged and created the « Reinventing oneself » collection ???

« In my work the Sphere represents the various elements a personality consists of. While playing with its pieces, new shapes emerge, each one as a reflection of a different emotional state. The diversity of textures applied on every surface, expresses the multifaceted personality of the human being. »

This collection was presented in JOYA Barcelona Art Jewellery Fair on October 2015 and will now be presented in Sofa exhibition 2015 in Chicago.

Ismini Pachi …..   Childhood dreams or adult reality?

Since graduating from the department of Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, she has been studying jewelry design.
Her academic background in Psychology as well as her strong interest in dance and creative movement have inspired her to design jewelry that combine two basic elements, the human figures and the surrounding space defined by their movement.
Her work reflects her interest in several contrasting elements such as solid-drilled, concealed – evident, soft- hard, light-dark, fairytale-reality.
‘’What mostly stimulates me is the way in which different materials are mixed together to develop dialogue and stories as well as how they are combined in a way that is visually, physically and emotionally pleasant.
The movement and elasticity of the materials plays a crucial role in the creative process.
My intention is to create the perception of dance through movement where the materials change forms, diminish and grow but always keep a stable basis as a reference point.’’

« Childhood dreams or adult reality? » –  » This collection expresses my need to create spaces where I could incorporate the dreams, memories and experiences of the past in the present in order not to get lost or be forgotten. What mostly stimulates me is the way in which different materials are mixed together to develop dialogue and stories as well as how they are combined in a way that is visually, physically and emotionally pleasant. Having the human and its inner world as basic element in my work, my forms are given in accordance with these elements. Creating spaces that have a playful dimension, I manage to keep childish characteristics in adult work. That is where I believe the inspiration comes and takes off. »

You would wonder « why this sudden interest, one year after ??? » because one year has passed, yes, but my love for her jewels hasn’t ! Because I just bought one of her rings … still the same collection ;-)   ( « Childhood dreams or adult reality? »), this time I feel more « concerned » as the ring’s name is « Lady in black » …… AND because I will meet again Ismini Pachi -and her jewels- at next JOYA Barcelona 2015 ! she will be presented by the Greek RAGTAG Collective *

EXPO ‘The After Joya effect – 6000 FRAGMENTS / THE FLOATING ISLANDS’ – Popeye Loves Olive, Athens (Greece) – 22 Mai-20 Juin 2015 dans Exposition/Exhibition - - X: « The after Joya Effect” * is an Exhibition that took place for the first time at Popeye loves Olive – Art Space, that aimed to the interaction and the transformation of individuality to collaboration, diversity to unification and exchange to sharing. It was inspired by the jewelry exchange inProject01 that held in Joya 2013. From 23/04/2014 – 30/06/2014, the project evolved in five solo exhibitions of Greek artists and one group exhibition of thirty five International artists. This year, every participating artist will create a unique (unreleased) piece, inspired by the “6000 Fragments – The Floating Islands” project. During the event, once again, the public will vote for their favorite artist, who will be invited for a solo exhibition at Popeye loves Olive. *The idea is to promote the Joya Project in Greece (artists selected by “Le Department” and exhibited in Joya Exhibition in October 2013 – 2014).
6000 Fragments / The Floating Islands :In Greece, there are 6,000 islands, islets and rocks. These holy seascapes connect spiritually, mentally and materially their inhabitants through the images that feed the senses. The second edition of “The after Joya effect” is inspired by the uniqueness of this physical experience in 6000 fragments. The Second Edition will be held between 22/05/15 – 20/06/2015.

« I fly high, around 6000ft above land. How much beauty can be contained in these natural sculptures that float in the sea? It’s like some divine entity has carefully placed them there to be admired. Sketches of brown and blue with strokes of white candy. In an attempt to capture this scenery, I created my own island, something small to touch. Is it enough? I have a craving feeling to trigger the senses, so I cut it in smaller pieces. I need to play. I deconstruct my island and I recompose it differently. Again and again. And I travel. Continuously… »

« In my recent body of work I seek the relationship between memories and self-awareness. A journey to Ithaca. Remnants of feelings, fragments of images, small findings, experiences of time introduce the elements of this weaving procedure. Dry landscapes, bright sun light, clear blue seas, white Cycladic walls compose the layers of this fresco. Aegean culture lies between myth and reality. »

« We relate to the world that surrounds us through senses, our « windows to the soul ». The ancient Greek philosophers named five yet our perception is endowed with far more. Apparently, when we are old we lose 40 seconds at every 3 minutes that we perceive. My work is about the images that could have been seen, the sounds that could have been heard, the touch of the sand, the smell and taste of the sea that could have, but never was, felt in 40 seconds that were lost. It is about 40 broken moments suspended in time. »
