Born and raised in Quebec City, Marie-Eve G. Castonguay had her first encounter with jewellery making at the École de Joaillerie de Québec, where she recieved a Diploma in 2011. She pursued her training with the completion of a Bachelor of Fine Arts at NSCAD University (Halifax, NS), where she majored in Jewellery Design and Metalsmithing. Her work was exhibited both in Canada and in France.
Currently established in Toronto, she is a full time artist in residence at Harbourfront Centre, where she was awarded a scholarship in 2014.
Seeing the body as a playground, Castonguay creates work that engages with the body’s movements. Inspired by questions of identity and belonging, both as an artist and as an individual, she creates intimate objects that provoke self-reflection and introspection.
