Lesley Craze Gallery  : Nora Fok: Focus on Cloud Nylon exhibition. Private View tomorrow night (7 Fevr. 2013)

  Lesley Craze Gallery showcase a selection of works from Nora Fok’s seminal retrospective exhibition ‘Cloud Nylon’.
Nora Fok is one of Britain’s leading contemporary jewellers who uses knitting, weaving, plaiting and knotting to transform nylon microfilament into extraordinary intricate wearable forms.
‘Cloud Nylon’ has been toured around the UK at venues including the Ruthin Craft Centre, Shipley Art Gallery and the Harley Gallery, though this is the first time that this work will have been seen in London.
Key pieces have been chosen which reflect Nora’s delicate craftsmanship and fascination with the natural world.

« For the official opening of the Design Centrum Kielce in the spring of 2012, our first exhibition will present exceptional achievements of Polish and international contemporary design, showing wide spectrum of this creative field and its unconventional approach towards everyday life.
In the main galleries the exposition will present furniture, lighting and innovative home accessories.
In the thematic galleries we will display contemporary industrial porcelain, ceramic and glass, avant-garde jewelry and projects of Kielce architects. In the library we will exhibit graphics, lettering and book design. »

Cloud Nylon: The Jewellery of Nora Fok

Nora Fok retrospective exhibition of her work
Nora Fok is one of Britain’s leading contemporary jewellers, who works with quite ordinary materials to create extraordinary results.
The processes Nora uses – knitting, weaving, crocheting and knotting – transform linear nylon microfilament into simple and complex structures, inspired by her fascination with the natural world and the mathematical models that underpin it.
Much of her work can be classified as jewellery, but she pushes the definition to its limits making larger bodywear and pieces which stand independently as sculpture.

To celebrate London Jewellery Week, Lesley Craze Gallery will showcase new collections by 12 of the world’s foremost jewellery and metalwork artists. The selected artists work in materials such as wood, metal, Nylon, paper and precious metals and utilize techniques as diverse as hand crochet to 3D Printing and Rapid Prototyping. By presenting this exceptional diversity, this exhibition seeks to explore the varied practices in cutting edge contemporary jewellery practice today. These collections were previewed at COLLECT, the leading international fair for contemporary objects held in May at the Saatchi Gallery.
