Exploring, experimenting, expressing.
Feeling, transforming, communicating.
Embracing.
The human body.
The simple objects.
The subconscious.
The spur of the moment.
Different but together for beautiful and ugly, for good or for bad..

Yiannis Siotis "Fragments - The Birth" - Pendant Silver, threadYiannis Siotis « Fragments – The Birth » -  Pendant Silver, thread
« This collection has been created as a need to express my experience of being a new parent. When I observed all internal and external changes of the pregnant body, I embraced all the emotional ups and downs that we both had. I kept the storm of feelings created the moment we saw our baby and hold it in our arms and finally I stood amazed at the magnificent process of breast feeding. All these became the fragments of time at my beginning on the way to parenting.

« travel, resort, escape, freedom, stuff, filled … experiences, a suitcase full of life …
will open to share some …. when the time comes, the moment, when you arrive, suitable viewer, listener …
words scattered and similar feelings … hitting the walls and dissolve or not … Enjoy your journey... »

Nella Vlachou "Broken Flower" Object PlexiglassNella Vlachou   « Broken Flower »  Object Plexiglass
« The human body is a space. The human body takes up space. The human body is the separator of an inside and an outside space.
How do these spaces interact with each other? Are they interconnected or out of balance? How do human beings deal with the condition of being the mediator?
Maybe there is no distinct answer but the exploration of these questions through the notion of materiality might be an answer in itself. »

EXPO ‘Unclasped’ – The Hellenic Museum, Melbourne (AU) – 6 Fevr.-3 Avril 2016

Unclasped: Discovering Contemporary Greek Jewellery

Unclasped is an exhibition of contemporary jewellery objects, bringing together and examining the practices of twenty-two artists of Greek descent currently working in Greece, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Cyprus and Australia.
The exhibition aims to provide a platform for contemporary thought in order to highlight the work of both established and emerging international Greek artists.
Exploring the connections between the manufacture and the act of wearing jewellery, the works encompass a wide variety of contemporary jewellery making techniques and mediums; expressing the diverse nature of modern jewellery practice within the Hellenic diaspora.

Viktor Pavlov Viktor Pavlov – “Fascinated by the qualities and the symbolical meaning of the gems I asked myself: why could not be created pieces of jewels having these characteristics but without using the real material of precious stones?”
Jewellery designer Viktor Pavlov, graduated in the “Metal” Department of the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria, often uses recycled materials with the aim is to reflect the problem of eco-fashion and to raise awareness toward the overuse of non-degradable materials.

EXPO ‘Give Me A Spoon’ – ATTA Gallery, Bangkok (Thailand) – 2 Oct.-9 Nov. 2014

Give Me A Spoon - – ATTA Gallery (Bangkok, Thailand)

« Give Me A Spoon” is the result of a challenge proposed by the curator Vipoo Srivilasa, in his residence at Canada. Vipoo Srivilasa wanted to withdraw the artists from their comfort zone, translating their practice into a new kind of work. The result are very different pieces, with a mix of techniques and processes but they’re all spoons.

Give Me A Spoon - - ATTA Gallery

» It all started in September 2013 with my residency in Canada, where I challenged all of the residents to a spoon competition. The spoons created during this competition travelled to an exhibition in Kansas City and are now off to Boston with my OBJECT: SPOON project.
As all this was happening, ATTA Gallery saw a potential of a spoon exhibition in Bangkok.
I am excited to work with ATTA Gallery to stage an exhibition that explores the notion of spoon as wearable art. The exhibition features artists who work in different media from around the world. The idea is to challenge artists to create something that they do not normally create and exercise their creativity by translating their practice into a new kind of work. Most importantly, it is for the artists to have fun! »  Vipoo Srivilasa, Curator

EXPO ‘CURRENT – MANO × Orizzonti’ – MANO Contemporary Jewellery & Object,Taipei, Taiwan (R.O.C.) – 8-26 Janv. 2014

CURRENT – MANO × Orizzonti

In the beginning of the 2014, MANO has teamed up with Japanese contemporary jewellery group Orizzonti to present the touring exhibition “CURRENT”.
12 artists, with different backgrounds, from 7 countries, came together to think about the basic question: “where is the world going?” The name of the exhibition “CURRENT” not only stands for the flow of ideas but also what’s happening in the world now. Both those concepts are intended to be expressed through jewellery. Each piece is presented together with the concept video made by the artist.
In Living with Art, Mark Getlein proposes 6 activities, services or functions of contemporary artists :
1. Create placese for some human purpose.
2. Create extraoridinary versions of ordinary objects.
3. Record and commemorate.
4. Give tangible form to the unknown.
5. Give tangible form to feelings.
6. Refresh our vision and help see the world in new ways.
MANO is delighted to bring “CURRENT” to the current climate in Taiwan, hoping to offer the viewers to see these extraordinary versions of ordinary objects which express memory, feelings, and the unknown and to see the world in new light.
