The Outer Limits

 Outer Limits - Facere gal

Orbital by nature, jewelry art lives on the body. Jewelry art invites comment. Jewelry art says, « Howdy! ». It is with pleasure that Facèré Jewelry Art Gallery offers Outer Limits, an exhibition of jewelry art that is as playful as it is avant-garde. Each featured artist experiments with peripheries – pushing the boundaries of material, technique and form.

Rachelle Thiewes

Rachelle Thiewes’s work is presented at Mobilia Gallery as a part of the series Spotlight Exhibitions that  feature a small collection of an artist’s most current work for a short period of time.

« The Chihuahuan desert of west Texas, where I live, has played a pivotal role in shaping the way I approach my jewelry. The barren mountains with the desert pushed up to their edges are bold, dramatic, aggressive and seductive, providing a continual source of inspiration and study. The luminous energy of light that bathes the desert can swiftly transform from sharp and shrieking to subtle and sensual, all within a day’s time. Capturing the refraction and dispersal of light with my jewelry through the orchestration of body motion has held my fascination for decades and continues to challenge and inform my ideas of light. » – Rachelle Thiewes

En lignes, en rond et en couleur(s) …. avec Rachelle Thiewes

Classé dans : COUP DE COEUR,Rachelle THIEWES (US),USA — bijoucontemporain @ 0:21

C’est rond, ça s’enroule, ça claque (de couleurs, de joie de vivre …) …. comme les lassos de son Texas ?

Rachelle Thiewes recent work explores kinetic shapes that are made of steel and painted with those color-shifting paints used in the auto industry. These vibrant pieces contrast greatly to her former work, which was more subtle in comparison, although still quite kinetic. Rachelle has always been a colorist, so it makes sense that her work reflects her affinity for dynamic, bold and unabashed hues. The collection consists of earrings, bracelets and brooches, and they all « jump » off the wearer while still being physically attached to that wearer.
