« PURUS« , a cura di Christoph Zellweger

Alchimia PURUS

11 artists, 9 nationalities, 7 languages , come together in the exhibition titled PURUS, the Latin root of the word pure(puro/pur), an untainted representation of perfection, naturalness, and concentration.
It all started with 333 yellow trees, 250 portraits, 99 towers of Babel, and many other experiments aimed to lead each student to the essence of his/her artistic language.
The results of this research, guided by Ruudt Peters are presented in PURUS, with Christoph Zellweger curating the eleven collections.

May 5 to May 7, Opening: May 4 at 9p.m.

« Mystery, curiosity, try-try-try, risky, trust, transformation, strange…
Do you think a plastic cup is a piece of jewellery? Probably not.
Every material has it’s hidden value. You just have to look for it.
You could jump on it for 30 minutes, shoot it from a distance of 25 meters, bake it in an oven for 3 days, try to plant it and wait for it to grow or you could just make it explode.
Maybe, if you are lucky and patient enough that plastic cup could actually turn into something precious and unexpected, which will lead you to your piece of jewellery. »

Eugenia INGEGNO

« I look at unlived second lives, something that did not happen but that could have happened. Situations seen for just a brief moment and then left waiting.

Portraits glimpsed, dreamed or only imagined.
A series of objects, real or not, accumulated and broken up to extract what is essential for me: a decorative detail or a fragment, just enough to trigger a memory.
As the Sunday photographer takes snapshots to capture the present, pursuing life as it flees, as if everything that he coudn’t photograph had never existed. Lost forever. I live the present as a future memory like a professional photographer, making it posed, manipulating reality, tries to photograph some memories, to give a body to recollection, replacing it for the present before his eyes (I.Calvino).
I catch the shape impressing the material into the mold as the photographer captures the image impressing light on the film.
All that this has been and this is what remains. This thing exists or has existed.
This is the reality and the past at the same time; an emanation of the real past: magic. »

Lucia MASSEI, coup de coeur toujours !

Lucia Massei, director of Alchimia is now part of the artists in Galerie Sofie Lachaert

« intense colours, mediterranean atmospheres, light and the illusive shine of gold, together with the seduction of black ornaments that seem to take us into etruscan banquets, these are the distinctive features of Lucia Massei’s jewellery.
“We stay on the surface because we feel the depth”, would be a phrase to describe the feeling Lucia’s jewellery can give  »
Here are some of her new (MARVELLOUS !) work

« Alchimiajewellery school presents ‘Tastes just like chicken….’ the Quaternitas exhibition 2011, curated by Ruudt Peters.
Michelle Kraemer and Maru Lopez present the final results after a yearlong development under the guidance of their tutor and curator. The work of both started with an exploration of gender, identity, sex, skin, touch, within the borders generated around those concepts by the individual and society.
The artists have worked in a close dialogue and with corresponding materials like fabric, latex, nylon and foam, but the resulting jewellery pieces show clearly their difference in cultural identity and personal interest.
Set up in the beautiful entrance hall of Alchimia, the exhibition is articulated in two installations referring to the display of ‘organic material’ , one related to commerce (the butcher) the other to curiosity and science (the natural history museum).«

COUP de “blues” avec Daniela BOIERI

Classé dans : ALCHIMIA (IT),COUP DE COEUR,Daniela BOIERI (IT),Italie (IT),www Klimt02 — bijoucontemporain @ 17:13

Daniela BOIERI : « Jewellery…….
I love this job in all its facets, I believe that the greatest satisfaction born from giving form to thoughts and sensations I live with.
My choice of materials is, every time, like leaving for a journey without booking……….a place to tell……………………………a momentary marriage.
I work with metal, especially silver, because I love the challenge with it. Metal doesn’t allow any uncertainty, and I establish a dialogue that always brings me to solutions full of surprises; when I have control and when I loose it. I have the feeling that either what happens by chance or what I try to find, fills me with new energy, makes me face myself and knowing me always better.
… Jewels are my illness and my cure …

Joya Barcelona 2011 – Galleries/schools – ALCHIMIA

Alchimia Gallery has no specific address, and no fixed base, to promote contemporary jewellery projects in different and sometimes unconventional spaces by producing, organizing and supporting cultural events, exhibitions and fairs. This use of transient locations reflects the spirit of adventure, mobility, innovation and energy, inherent in the philosophy of Alchimia Jewellery School.

The gallery’s activity is directed mainly to the motivation and support of artists, part of the Alchimia “family” with the aim to provide opportunities for visibility and growth through the creation of a valuable international network.

At JOYA 2011 the gallery is presenting a selection of work from teachers as well as students graduated in 2011: Lucia Massei (Italy), Doris Maninger (Italy-Austria), Marzia Rossi (Italy), Daniela Boieri (Italy), Yoko Shimizu (Japan), Aline Battegay (Switzerland), Anja Eichler (Germany), Wen-Hsien Carissa Hsu (Taiwan), Gabi Veit (Italy), Lea-Maria Becker (Denmark), Jade Drakes (Trinidad), Nadege Roscoe-Rumjahn (Canada) and Satita Rajpojjanarat (Thailand)
