“Animal Instincts,” the 2014 Juried Exhibition in Print by SNAG and produced by Metalsmith, will showcase a diverse range of animal-related work from the metalsmithing field

 

Eligibility:
• Open to all SNAG members 18 years of age or older, including jewelers, designers, metalsmiths, and students.
• Applicants need not reside in the United States.
• All work must be original and produced within the last three years (2010 or later).

Parcours du bijou: appel à candidature

D’un bijou à l’autre propose un parcours du bijou dans tout Paris. L’association lance un appel à candidature afin d’organiser cet événement qui se déroulera à partir de la fin du mois de septembre 2013.

Evénement unique dans l’univers du bijou, l’association D’un bijou à l’autre propose de faire découvrir les projets d’un grand nombre de créateurs ou galeries dans différents lieux de Paris. Les participants sont amenés à présenter des créations françaises, étrangères, anciennes ou contemporaines dans des manifestations allant d’un jour à deux mois. D’un bijou à l’autre coordonne les projets et assure la communication de ces manifestations.

- Le déroulement:
Les candidats porteurs de projets organisent eux mêmes leur manifestation : recherche et choix du lieu, scénographie, montage de l’exposition.
Les différents événements doivent se dérouler à Paris dans des lieux publics : musées, galeries, boutiques,…
Touts projets organisés dans un lieu privé (ateliers, appartements, …) seront refusés.

- Les critères de sélection:
L’association choisira les participants en fonction de la qualité du projet, de la qualité esthétique et de la qualité des réalisations techniques des bijoux réalisés dans le passé.

- Comment participer:
Les participants doivent remplir le dossier de candidature (à retourner à l’association) et joindre également des photographies de pièces déjà réalisées et 15 euros de frais de dossier.

- Les frais de participation:
Les frais de participation s’élève à 40€ pour chaque participant à un projet et sont plafonnés à 200€ pour les groupes de plus de cinq personnes et les galeries.

La date limite de dépôt des candidatures est le 1er octobre 2012.

You are invited to participate in ‘Suspend.ed in pink’, a touring exhibition that seeks to explore the world of jewellery as it is NOW. With a focus on concept driven jewellery, also known as art or research jewellery, this call out is looking for wearable pieces that contain the colour PINK.
The result will be a juxtaposition of jewellers, themes and styles, all suspended from the gallery’s ceiling, which will invite the viewer to engage and interact with the work.

 

Submission Deadline:
Submissions for initial selection must be received by SEPT. 21, 2012, electronically to [e-mail]

Entry criteria:
Free choice of media/materials/size.
Any materials or scale accepted.
Work created in the past 2 years.
Only unseen pieces can be submitted.

Artist statement relating to the work submitted (300 words max.)
Up to 4 pieces can be submitted for consideration, 7 photos max. (incl. detail shots) in high resolution, Jpg file, 300dpi, 20×15 cm/11×6 in.
Pure white background (images must be fit for printing)
Each image must be accompanied by the following information: Name and address of artist, title of work, dimensions, year created, materials.

Upon acceptance:
For selected artists an additional participation fee of Euro 25 is due at the time of acceptance to cover catalogue expenses. The artist is responsible for the cost of initial delivery and return of work.

Shipping address and timelines:
This information will be given to the selected artists upon acceptance and after all payments have been received. Selected artists should be prepared to ship work to England so that it arrives on or before OCT. 21, 2012. The organisers do not assume any liability of the work during transport.

 Your work will be held for up to one year as part of the touring exhibition.

Insurance and Liability:
All entries are to be insured by the artists. Participants who apply for the exhibition can only be accepted under the conditions that they are liable for the loss, theft or damage to his/her goods during transport and during the period up to the exhibitions at the various locations. The artwork is insured as soon as it reaches the gallery premises.

Parcours du Bijou 2013

 

Du bijou de créateur au bijou contemporain, de la joaillerie au bijou couture, du bijou du Moyen Age à celui du 21ème siècle, l’étendue de la création en matière de bijou est riche.

Or à ce jour, aucun évènement n’a permis de montrer, au même moment, cette incroyable diversité.

Pour pallier à ce manque de visibilité, un groupe de créateurs de bijoux, de galeristes, d’institutionnels s’associent autour d’un évènement spécifique, entièrement dédié au bijou.

 

Fin Septembre 2013 aura lieu à Paris le «Parcours du Bijou»

Le Parcours du Bijou sera constitué d’une trentaine de manifestations autour du bijou qui se dérouleront dans des lieux publics à partir de fin septembre 2013 : expositions, performances, conférences …

 

 

Son objectif : montrer la diversité du bijou, français ou étranger, ancien ou contemporain.

 

Participez à cet événement inédit

Le Parcours du Bijou est ouvert aux créateurs de bijoux, joailliers, galeries ou collectionneurs, experts ou historiens, désireux de faire connaître la richesse de cet incontournable élément de parure.

Chaque participant bénéficiera d’une totale autonomie dans le montage de son projet (après sélection de celui-ci). Les participants seront par conséquent entièrement responsables de l’avancement de leur projet.

 

C’est la première fois que seront organisées simultanément à Paris autant de manifestations différentes autour du bijou.

L’association « D’un bijou à l’autre » est à l’initiative de ce Parcours du Bijou. Nous espérons la venue d’autres partenaires que nous attendons nombreux.

 

« D’un bijou à l’autre » est une association loi 1901 qui a pour but de fédérer des acteurs indépendants et associatifs du monde du bijou; de soutenir et/ou d’organiser des évènements publiques autour du bijou sous toutes ses formes: expositions, séminaires, conférences, publications.

Pour vous inscrire, il vous suffit, une fois les critères d’adhésion remplis, de renvoyer par mail (sous format pdf) ET par courrier (sous forme imprimée) avant le 1er Octobre 2012 les documents ci-dessous :

- 3 à 5 photos en couleurs de bonne qualité des pièces réalisées dans le passé (en format jpeg 300 dpi) (si groupe 10 photos maximum)

Concours « Sex, Drugs & Rock’n Roll……vices or lifestyle? » – deadline: 1er Fev. 2012

We are inviting artists to submit their artwork to
Sex, Drugs & Rock’n Roll……vices or lifestyle?

We began by thinking about the poet Dante who talked about “Dante’s deadly sins” in his “Divine Comedy.” How do people think about vices in our current times? Gambling, collecting items – are these vices, or a “lifestyle”?
Our project wants to reflect on the way vices exist in our everyday life. Alcohol, drugs and smoking, but also games and TV could become vices, it all depends on the way you look at them, the way one leads his or her life.

How do we think about vices in 2011? Are the above mentioned vices still considered vices these days, have new vices cropped up that Dante knew nothing about? Please submit your artwork related to this theme. The exhibition will consist of 25-30 pieces total depending on sizes of work.

*Sale agreement:
There is no selling agreement in place for these exhibitions. The work is shown for educational purposes only. If there is interest to purchase individual work, the potential buyer will get in touch and make arrangements with the artist directly. The Jury review will take place in March 2012, work will be judged on completeness of requested information, originality, adherence to and depth of concept, design and quality of craftsmanship. The designs will be judged anonymously, based solely on the merit of the piece. The results of the jurying process are incontestable.

The winning artists will be informed of the outcome around March 30, 2012.

« En prévision des Fêtes de Fin d’Année, le Pôle Bijou Galerie va créer un grand marché du Bijou de Créateur sur tout le mois de décembre. L’idée : transformer la galerie en une merveilleuse boutique où les visiteurs pourront trouver des bijoux originaux pour tous les budgets, tous les styles … Il s’agit aujourd’hui de sélectionner une trentaine de créateurs qui présenteraient leurs pièces (en pensant à fournir les emballages) dans un principe de « dépôt vente » et s’engageraient à assurer au moins une à deux journées de permanence sur le lieu durant le mois. Cet événe­ment, réunis­sant plus de 200 créa­teurs dans toutes les dis­ci­plines, dési­reux de vendre leur tra­vail aux prin­ci­paux ache­teurs et se faire connaître auprès des médias inter­na­tio­naux, se tien­dra du 22 au 28 sep­tembre 2011 durant le London Design Festival.

Origin is evolving!
In 2010, the Crafts Council re-launched Origin at the London Design Festival, giving makers access to interior designers, retailers and architects alongside the many visitors that Origin already attracts.
209 makers made sales totalling over £700,000 to 17,000 visitors in 7 days, established new contacts, pursued new commissioning opportunities and were seen by 600 international media.
In September 2011, we will be returning to the London Design Festival, again bringing together makers in all disciplines, working at all scales, with key buyers, commissioners, and media in a renewed Origin pavilion at Spitalfields Market.
We want to hear from established and new makers keen to sell to new markets, develop new clients and take advantage of the opportunities offered by Origin at the London Design Festival.
And we want to show this audience the best contemporary craft – from jewellery and fashion, ceramics and glass, textiles and tableware, to furniture and large-scale installations which offer extraordinary opportunities to commission new work.
