Julia Obermaier« My main subject is about private space. If someone is crossing the borders of my spaces without permission, it causes a bad feeling. I try to protect them as much as possible, but in daily life, one cannot always keep direct surroundings and personal space in their preferred way. Our outside world is always in relation with each other and our circumstances.
I create in my pieces rooms, containers, boxes or little caves. These spaces can be filled with ones own personal feelings, perceptions and sensations. I see my work as containers protecting the innermost emotions of the viewer or wearer, that they use to confront a busy world ».

EXPO ‘Nomen Nescio’ – Piazza del carmine 29, Firenze (IT) – 2-3 Dec. 2016

Nomen Nescio

MFA GRADUATION SHOW - by  Carla Movia

Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School Florence

Opening 2 december 18:00-21:00

& 3 December 17:00-20:00

Nomen Nescio – Carla Movia

Nomen Nescio, from latin nomen-name and nescio-I don’t know, is an installation of 300 brooches, all made out of the same material – discarded tin cans.
It is the nameless and forgotten crowd that the jewellery artist Carla Movia addresses with her work, a reflection on stereotypes and prejudice.
100 trashed tin cans transformed into jewellery state that redemption is a possibility.
They are meant as a symbol of hope, the invisible and the rejected placed on the body and worn with pride to be noticed.
In this spirit, one series of brooches supports Oxfam Italia’s campaign Stand as One.
A percentage of the sales will be donated to give help and protection to the millions of people forced to flee conflict, disaster and poverty.

EXCHANGE-BIJOU 1 – Jonathan Hens – the HIGHWAY of success !

Jonathan Hens

I discovered his works at fall 2013 during PARIS – CIRCUITS BIJOUX , at the exhibition ‘Precieux Passages’ at Bibliothèque Forney. A first « face to face » with a (very) STRONG creation !

Strong creation that encountered SUCCESS : in 2012 the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp presents his works, together with some other students, at SIERAAD 2012 Amsterdam, we saw his works at Marzee Graduate show 2012 AND 2013, an exhibition during SCHMUCK 2014 (« Lights ON/Lights OFF » 3 stations Galerie, Munich), an exhibition during SCHMUCK 2015 (« Oscure sacrifices« , together with Jorge Manilla, at 3STATIONS,  Munich), an exhibition during SCHMUCK 2016 (« Trans-it » – 3STATIONS,  Munich), has been selected  for TALENTE 2016, Munich, he is presented at AUTOR 2016 (the International Contemporary Jewelry Fair in Bucarest, Romania) ……
This is not the « Route of Success », it’s an HIGHWAY !!!

« After having researched different kinds of sub-and material-cultures, Jonathan Hens constructs with his own culture of tin while exploring the different qualities of the metal, making himself a master of his practice. By engraving, pouncing and printing, he develops a new dimension to the material. This results in graphic surfaces combined with archaic shapes and volumes. Hen’s pieces, beautiful as they are, are not indented as mere objects, but as points of recognition in a world of Tribal Ravers. They cross time and cultures. They are an ode to the pleasures of the now. »

Autor 2016. Jonathan Hens. Alliages Choice.: Jonathan Hens works presented at Autor 2016

« Jonathan Hens’ striking work speaks of recent developments in today’s world, which has seen a fusion between the banal and the subcultures and becomes a place where men and women have merged into androgynous beings.
His designs are the result of an intense search for an alternative identity. Rather than a classic example of beauty, the viewer gets to see Hens’ interpretation of it. He chose the material pewter to launch his fetishism line.
His dark look mirrors (or reflects) ‘the now’, a place where there is scope for experiment and self expression. His atypical aesthetic has no truck with traditional techniques. Jonathan Hens creates a visual game between austere forms and a rough edge finish. He heightens the geometry and black textures by using suture thread to bind the various elements.
His work raises many questions, such as what beauty means today and whether or not there is still a difference betweens the sexes.
Jonathan Hens’ work gives us greater insight into the diversity of our world. » / Jorge ManillaJonathan Hens - THE CITY IS MY CHURCH - 2014 - #1 Necklace -Pewter/ Sutures/ LatexTHE CITY IS MY CHURCH – 2014 – #1 Necklace  -Pewter/ Sutures/ Latex

During SCHMUCK 2016 : TALENTE 2016 awards – 27 Fevr. 2016

  TALENTE 2016
Award Ceremony, 27.02.2016 16:30
Fairground Messe Munich, Hall B1

Talente 2016 presents the work of 102 artists, designers and craftsmen from 26 countries in 12 different areas of production. This year Talente has also participants from Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Lithuania, South Africa and Argentinia. Talente will show innovative and very different works in glass, ceramics and jewellery as well as a very large selection of textiles. The works are inspired by considerations of material and re-use, the specific haptic and visual qualities of materials and the effect of their combination. The artists experiment with various surfaces and use materials in unusual ways. It is fascinating to observe how surfaces contrast and harmonize how perfection and decay are evoked.
As in the last years, an unusual high number of applications arrived for “Talente” from the field of jewellery. The young artists show a special interest in the techniques and ideas of the collage and the use of unusual materials like basketry, ceramic, plaster, textile and different stones. The works concentrate more on the surfaces themselves less on decorative embellishments. In many instances they emphasise the archaic and rough side. A pattern is also created by the materials themselves.

STEFFI GÖTZE

Well … I knew yet Steffi Götze jewelry, loved it yet (her 2014 « In Between » collection), but I think this year was the « coup de coeur’ year » ! ;-) all these whites & light blue-whites ……. hold in these black prongs, structures for the « anima », open windows on imagination, on dreams ….. « la page blanche » ….. the white sheet where ALL can be written ….
Welcome to the « Inside outside » collection.

« My work is an experimental and personal dialogue with poetry, intuition, the conscious and the unconscious, culture, experiences, emotions… I communicate the basic human emotions and memories through color, textures and narrative objects. My work is like a souvenir one takes home from a trip abroad, allowing oneself to return to the moment of purchase and be flooded with all the memories.
My jewelries are wearable life stories. »

» Perception is the interpretation of what we take through our senses. The way we perceive our environment is what makes us different from each other. I am interested in the connection of two concepts, the Inside and the Outside, and the undefined space in between of them. There are thousands of stimuli and experiences that come from the outside to touch our inside, like fragments of a puzzle. The way we put them together is what makes us unique »

….. and the winner is Jing Yang (CN/DE) from  Akademie der Bildenden Künste (ADBK)

With her vases pendants, the jewelry designer Jing Yang explores and experiments with the gender-specific stereotypes in her home country China. By dissecting vase-shaped elements and arranging the individual parts in a distinctive manner, she plays with formal analyses reminiscent of Concrete Art. (ArtAurea)

« I’m not a Vase »

( Exhibition of Jing Yang in the Academy Gallery, Munich, during SCHMUCK 2015 - 11 – 22 march 2015)

« « I’m not a vase. »
The sentence has two meanings. « I’m not a vase, I’m jewelery » which is a
The other interpretation comes from my home. In many cultures, bringing the silhouette and features a vase in connection with a woman. In China it is called pretty but stupid women « vase » – nice but hollow.
My work group « I am not a Vase » has several layers of meaning.
As jewelry is also the vase an object that moves between useful and artistic object.
I’m interested in the artistic jewelry. Even my vases have no function anymore – they are cut into rings and the fragments are then strung on a string and creates a neck piece of jewelry.
Stacked the vase can recognize. The result is a fragile entity. My vases can always decompose and their meaning changes again. You mean to say, « I will not be a vase, I have something to say! »
Also think about the opposite worthwhile. « I am a Vase » says: « I am beautiful ». » (adbkAcademy Gallery)

“We face the deepest emotions that are hidden away,
they slip through our hands and through our head.
They present themselves as a truth.
A truth that the eyes did not want to see nor the mind to think of.
A truth that reveals all the hidden remains and presents them as a reminder of your essence.
