« Exciting materials, bright colours, sensual materiality and extraordinary forms deeply fascinates me.
This fascination is the basis, the essential mix, upon which my jewellery is growing.
For me, my works are like poems on the body, a poetry in objects. Colours and shapes forming sentences and signs, playing and communicating together and merging into new formations.
Through the effect of colours, materials and shapes, an independent, artificial and self-explanatory image
should develop and turn the wearer into a breathtaking painting.
Furthermore, my necklaces are about the unconditional beauty of colours, shapes, materials and about decorative equality. My necklaces are made of materials which fascinate me, of objects from everyday life, consumption and the environment, which represents me, my culture and the time I am living in.
I am working in different directions and searching for ways to combine diverse disciplines like painting, installation, fashion, graphic and jewellery into something new. That helps me to reflect « authentic me » and the culture I´m living in.
The restrictions of conventional jewellery form the background against which I develop my own, individual language of form, trying to find a new definition of jewellery as well as a new place for it in today’s society.
Moreover, I am questioning the boundaries between precious and non-precious. I am interested in the transformation of precious into non-precious and of non-precious into preciousness. But the question also is one about the ideal and intrinsic value of objects and their importance. « The fixation of the pieces of jewellery and other objects of peronal value I have collected by way of the rather unconventional technique of silicone casting, is a snap-shot of my time and the culture I am part of, the culture of an often unreflected consumers’ society, in which objects become easily disposable. With jewellery not the material but the ideal value should come to the fore, so that the personality of everyone can get expressed, shaped and reflected. The idea of democratic jewellery and of sharing my messages and my collected and unique objects is important for me. That´s also a reason why I choose the silicone casting method. There is a strong contrast between the material of non-precious silicone, the cast precious jewellery pieces and a very personal content. By changing the original materiality of the used objects into silicone or resin, a new harmony of material, colour is created, a novel entity. «

« Lebendig und vielfältig – so designt Denise Julia Reytan ihren Schmuck.
So entwirft sie Ketten und Broschen als tragbare, kraftvolle Ausdrucksmittel für Menschen verschiedener Kulturen, orientiert sich an traditionellen und populären Schmuckformen und revitalisiert Trachtenschmuck.
Doch nicht nur ihre Schmuckstücke, auch Reytans Installationen zeigen im Detail eine collagenartige Mischung aus allerlei vertrauten Formen und Gegenständen, die zur persönlichen Aneignung und Ergänzung einladen.
Eine unglaubliche Vielfalt von poetischen Fragmenten, zum Teil wie Versatzstücke religiöser Amulette und Ketten anmutend, wiederverwendeter und transformierter Modeschmuck, aber auch formschöne Reste industrieller Verpackung und Halbedelsteine lassen sich in Reytans Colliers entdecken – immer zusammengehalten von Denise Julia Reytans Freude an der Komposition intensiver Farben.
Dieser Schmuck ist so lebendig und vielfältig wie Berlin – die Stadt in der die in Pforzheim und Düsseldorf ausgebildete junge Schmuckmacherin zur Zeit lebt und arbeitet.

Gallery Pilartz are presenting works of art you can wear. They are bold, fancy, ambiguous, poetic, humorous, provocative, austere or baroque and lush. This time two jewellery artists born in Germany are exhibiting their work in Cologne

« Both artists have been born in Göttingen. It is 10 years ago, that they learned about the similarities of their jewellery. Both have been studying at renowned schools and both got several  scholarships.
Julie Mollenhauer studied at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, where she is living now. She loves to work with antique glass beads in a very simple and classical way. Her bracelets come into existence as they move perfectly with the body. Sometimes her works consist of two sides, such as two contrasting colours or materials.
Stephanie Jendis learned how to make jewellery at the School of Design of Pforzheim University, now she is living in Berlin. In her work she often combines unusual materials (bicycle bell) with gemstones – she is interested in contrasts. Her pieces range from  dark and curious to colourful and splendid.. »

« Stones are where my work starts. I use natural stones, as well as crystalline and stone shapes, which I make from other materials like wood or plastic. My work consists of sorting and grouping-I arrange and re-arrange, create regularities, disorder and exceptions. Precious stones always possess a sense of glamour and secrecy. « My work is often fragile and very flexible, especially those with tiny glass beads wich i use often for bracelets. I like the fact that bracelets more than other jewellry move and slip with the body.

« Die Perle ist durch ihre schimmernde Oberfläche, die Ebenmäßigkeit ihrer Rundung – oder gerade gegenteilig durch die bizarren Formen – und ihre geheimnisvolle Entstehung bestimmt. Ihre Schönheit, ihr Glanz und ihre weiße Farbigkeit ließen sie zum Attribut der Göttin Venus werden.
Schon früh wurde die Perle in verschiedenen Kulturkreisen im Schmuck verarbeitet und mit symbolischem Wert belegt. Sie war zudem Zeichen für Macht, Status und Reichtum. In jüngerer Vergangenheit wurde die Perle in der Perlenkette zum grossbürgerlichen Statussymbol und geriet darüber etwas ins Abseits. In den letzten Jahren lässt sich nun ein neues Interesse an der Perle erkennen: Am Beispiel der Perle wird nicht nur über die traditionellen Funktionen von Schmuck reflektiert, sondern es werden auch neue innovative Formen der Gestaltung mit der Perle erprobt.
Die Ausstellung der Galerie Handwerk München beschäftigt sich mit diesen ungewöhnlichen Formen der Gestaltung nicht nur im Medium des Schmucks, sondern auch in der Installation, dem Bild und dem Objekt. Im Vordergrund steht jedoch der Schmuck.Werke von 43 internationalen Künstlern werden präsentiert, um einen
Überblick über die verschiedenen Tendenzen bei diesem aktuellen Thema zu geben. Nach einer jahrelangen Vernachlässigung der Perle, gerade im Bereich des Autorenschmucks, fällt nun ein intensives Interesse dafür auf. Dieses wurde auch wieder in der Sonderschau ›Schmuck‹ auf der Internationalen Handwerksmesse 2010 in München deutlich. Nach einer langen Zeit, in der Minimalismus, eine gewisse architektonische Konstruktionsweise und Funktionalität bei der Gestaltung von Dingen bzw. eine stark persönlich und kritisch geprägte Auffassung beim Schmuck im Mittelpunkt standen, ist nun wieder eine neue Freude an der Pracht und dem Reichtum, ein Rückgriff auf Ornamente und eine Formensprache festzustellen, die dem Barock entlehnt ist. Vor diesem Hintergrund scheint dann auch die Beschäftigung mit der Perle, deren Gestaltung im Barock einen Höhepunkt erfuhr, keinesfalls erstaunlich.
Perlen aus verschiedenen Materialien und der Reichtum in ihrer Formgebung werden an Beispielen internationaler Schmuckkünstler vorgestellt. Es sind Arbeiten aus Australien, Belgien, Deutschland, Finnland, Frankreich, Großbritannien, Italien, Japan, den Niederlanden, Norwegen, aus Österreich, der Schweiz, der Tschechischen Republik und den USA vertreten.«

Alors je vous le dit de suite  : hélas, je ne comprends pas un traitre mot de l’allemand …. et le charabia généré par les « outils traducteurs » ne m’aide pas franchement …. je vous le laisse (ci-dessous) rien que pour rire un peu ….

La perle est, par sa surface miroitante, la régularité de leur cycle – ou tout simplement le contraire prévue par les formes bizarres – et leur origine mystérieuse. Leur beauté, leur éclat et leur couleur blanche, ils sont laissés à l’attribut de la déesse Vénus.
Déjà Früh la perle dans les différentes cultures a été générée dans les bijoux et recouvert d’une valeur symbolique.  Elle était aussi un symbole pour le pouvoir, le statut et la richesse. Dans un passé récent, la perle dans le collier à grossbürgerlichen symbole de statut et quelque chose est tombé en désuétude. Ces dernières années, peut maintenant détecter un nouvel intérêt pour la perle: l’exemple de la perle est non seulement à refléter les fonctions traditionnelles de bijoux, mais aussi de tester de nouvelles façons novatrices de la conception à la perle.
L’exposition traite de la Galerie Handwerk Munchen à ces formes particulières d’organisation non seulement dans le milieu des bijoux, mais aussi dans l’installation, l’image et l’objet. L’objectif, cependant, est le règne de 43 Schmuck.
Données comme numéro un dans les différentes tendances  du présent . Après des années de négligence, en particulier dans le domaine des bijoux d’auteur, la perle suscite maintenant un vif intérêt.  Ce fut encore plus évident dans l’émission spéciale  « Bijoux » à la Foire commerciale internationale 2010 de Munich. Après un long moment, le minimalisme d’une certaine manière, la construction architecturale et de fonctionnalité dans la conception des choses et une vue très personnelle et critique dominé les bijoux dans le centre se trouvait, est aujourd’hui à nouveau une joie nouvelle dans la grandeur et la richesse, un Rückgriff ornements sur un formulaire et la langue afin de déterminer le baroque est dérivé. Dans ce contexte, la tâche semble à la perle, la conception d’un pic dans le baroque appris à ne pas surprenant.
Perles de divers matériaux et de la richesse dans leur conception sera présenté avec des exemples de Schmuckkünstler internationale.

CONCOURS – TALENTE 2011 – deadline : 1er Oct. 2010

It is time to apply to TALENTE 2011, the international competition for young artists, craftsmen, makers, designers and technicians. The chosen works will be shown on the International Trade Fair for the Skilled Trades in Munich from 16th to 22nd of March 2011.

 

« TALENTE is a showcase and competition for newcomers who work in design and technology. It takes place as a special show during the International Trade Fair for the Skilled Trades in Munich each year. We invite new talent in the areas of design and technology to enter. In the design section, you must not be more than 33 yeas old in the year that the competition takes place. The maximum age in the technology section is 35.

Since 1979 the organisers have collaborated with training institutions, academies, universities and arts and crafts organisations throughout the world, who put forward their nation’s best people for the competition. The world-wide network assures a unique view of trends and questions which concern young people in arts and crafts, making visitors aware of trends and currents, and of the coming generation of designer makers and inventors. Many of the young artists exhibiting attend the fair, to exploit the opportunity for exchanging ideas.

Talente entrants from previous years may not enter again. Invitations are sent out to over 25 countries throughout Europe and beyond. The contributions are selected by a panel of experts. »

 

Salon international de l’Artisanat Munich – Exposition « TALENTE 2011″

«Talente» est un concours annuel destiné aux candidats juniors de l’artisanat dans les domaines de la création et de la technique. Nous recherchons des oeuvres dont la forme et la technique font preuve d’originalité et d’un savoir-faire manuel exceptionnel et qui sont symboliques de leur époque.
Le concours est organisé sous l’égide de la Fédération pour la Promotion de l’Artisanat de la Chambre des Métiers de Munich et de Haute-Bavière et soutenu conjointement par le Ministère fédéral de l’Industrie et du Travail et par le Ministère de l’Industrie, du Travail, des Transports et de la Technologie du Land de Bavière.
«Talente» se déroule chaque année début mars à Munich sous la forme d’Exposition spéciale du Salon international de l’Artisanat. Installés dans le hall A1 et créateurs de leur propre concept d’exposition, quelque 90
participants venant de 25 pays exposent leurs projets sur une surface de 600 m².
Le début du Salon s’accompagne de la parution d’un catalogue dont la présentation de grande qualité dresse la
liste des oeuvres visibles sur le Salon ainsi que de courtes biographies des exposants et quelques explications.
Pendant le Salon, un jury international sélectionne parmi les oeuvres exposées les gagnants du Prix Talente. Le prix est nominal. Le nom des lauréats est à nouveau publié dans le catalogue de l’année suivante. L’objectif de « Talente » est d’encourager le plus grand nombre possible de jeunes talents. C’est pourquoi la participation est
limitée à une seule fois.
Sont invités à participer les candidats juniors de l’Artisanat dans les domaines de la création et de la technique.
Dans le domaine de la création, l’âge limite de candidature est fixé à 33 ans dans l’année de candidature. Dans le domaine de la technique, la limite d’âge est de 35 ans. Les anciens participants à l’exposition «Talente» ne
peuvent pas participer à nouveau.
Plus de 25 pays européens et non européens sont invités à soumissionner. Les oeuvres sont sélectionnées par
une commission d’experts.
Les personnes intéressées doivent envoyer leur candidature en ligne, accompagnée d’une photo et d’une
documentation sur l’oeuvre avec laquelle ils souhaitent participer au concours. Ce travail doit refléter l’évolution
de l’artiste ou du technicien et présenter également une thématique actuelle. Le travail ne doit pas dater de plus
de 2 ans.
La commission de sélection choisit les participants au concours parmi les candidatures qui ont été envoyées.
Les oeuvres des participants sont alors exposées à l’exposition spéciale «Talente» qui se déroule dans le cadre
du Salon international de l’Artisanat. Elles y seront évaluées par un jury international. La photo et le texte qui
ont été envoyés sont également publiés dans le catalogue réalisé pour le Salon international. Seul le travail
pour lequel le créateur ou le technicien a candidaté pourra être exposé. D’autres oeuvres ou des oeuvres plus
récentes ne pourront pas être exposées. L’objet exposé peut être une oeuvre unique ou un ensemble d’oeuvres.
En fonction de la taille, l’exposition ne présentera pas plus de huit oeuvres.

EXPO ‘Mikiko Minewaki : Kid’s Room’ – Oona Gallery, Berlin (Germany) – 22 Avr.- 22 Mai 2010

 
Mikiko Minewaki says about this exhibition: I chose with “Kids’room” as the theme this time. I collected toys and clothes. The things were certainly for children before. But now,they transformed to jewelry and interior goods for grown-ups.

…this is the beginning of my work.
Thanks to everyone, thanks to myself, my room is full up with objects on and on, such as plastic models, figures, toys, stationery, etc.
Surrounded with those stuff, the hidden forms come out to me, like this, like that… Things left alone and threw away may become something. Moreover,they return to beside the body. What a wonderful transformation! My work is just a sample of transformation. Unexpectedly “objects” could be no use. “Is there any useful way left for this ?” I wonder this could be happened to you. Now, I have a pen with my hand. But when we see it the next time, it may change to be a necklace!  »

Mikiko Minewaki was born in the countryside of Japan. Currently she is a lecturer of the Hiko Mizuno College of Jewelry, Japan. Her jewellery comes from the work of of cutting off plastic goods, where any everyday object by being pieced can become wearable.

‘Don’t you dare to fall off my blouse!’/ Nicht dass Du mir von der Bluse fällst

On April 21st, 1999, a few goldsmiths got together in the “Fraunhofer”, a time-honored Munich pub, and founded a regular get-together. From then on, they met the last Wednesday of every month to talk about jewelry, the scene, God and the world over a cold beer, a glass of red wine, and a hearty meal. The circle of regulars grew and changed, only the young talent still in training and all jewelry gallery owners, collectors and customers were categorically denied attendance. At some point, the group dissolved just as quietly as it had formed.

However, one of these meetings has become legendary. It was in the late spring of 2001, before the smoking ban took effect. Clouded in blue smoke, Volker Atrops, Peter Bauhuis, Doris Betz, Waltraud Erlacher, Therese Hilbert, Otto Künzli, Karen Pontoppidan and Bettina Speckner were sitting, talking, and gossiping as usual. Museums, galleries, colleagues; no one was spared. Business as usual. Then, the urge to switch from practical to utopian topics arose. Why shouldn’t the members of our regular get-together create an exhibition? A long and boisterous brainstorming session set in, ran wild, and carried us away into other spheres. The most ludicrous titles, topics and subjects wove in and out of the conversation. The group imagination foamed over like a well-poured beer. Sense, nonsense and madness merrily accompanied us for a good hour. But we didn’t really make any headway. Most of the twists and turns of our conversation dissolved like fog and have only survived piecemeal as shreds of words which no longer make any sense today.

Near exhaustion, it slipped out of someone’s mouth – from whose is no longer known. It was an ominous construct which at first went almost unobserved, and then, with every utterance, developed such a charm that it still fascinates us today: Don’t you dare to fall off my blouse!
At a late hour it became clear that we, the ones present on that fateful night, should and would title a modest but moving exhibition exclusively dedicated to brooches with this and only this sentence. The utmost secrecy was sworn so that no one would steal our practical and poetic title. Years went by, grass grew here and there. Most of the protagonists only vaguely remember this evening, only a few continued to dream about the words: “Don’t you dare to fall off my blouse!”

In the spring of 2010, Volker Atrops, Peter Bauhuis, Waltraud Erlacher, Therese Hilbert, Otto Künzli, Karen Pontoppidan and Bettina Speckner will be showing old as well as many new brooches in the Gallery of Applied Arts at the Bavarian Society of Arts and Crafts in Munich. Don’t you dare to fall off my blouse! A dream becomes true.
