EXCHANGE-BIJOU 2 – Reka Lőrincz – « Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious » at Putti Art Gallery, sept. 2017

Reka Lőrincz

5 new pieces on show at Putti Art Gallery  during September 2017 (08-27 Sep 2017) :  Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Jewellery is not only jewellery

(next exhibition : 2018: Fair  07 Mar 2018 – 13 Mar 2018  Schmuck 2018.)

« On the border of kitsch and consume Réka Lörincz from Budapest and Gisbert Stach from Munich show a colourful kaleidoscope of works defining field of jewellery in a new creative way »
«  There are many misunderstandings in the common meaning of jewellery and in the thinking of what jewellery should be.
On the border of kitsch and consume Réka Lörincz from Budapestand Gisbert Stach from Munich show a colourful kaleidoscope of jewellery, objects, installations and films where they try to define and enlighten the field of jewellery in a new humoristic, critical and philosophical way.
Both are doing as well collaborations in making jewellery pieces.

Réka Lörincz’s jewellery is playing with the colourful world of plastics and toys that she is deforming by absurd and surrealistic elements into amazing jewellery pieces. Their objects are pretending to have a function. But by combining abstract materials the visitor is surprised by the humour and colourfulness of the installation. Reka Lorincz has studied in Hungarian University of Craft and Design, has shown her works in various group and personal exhibitions around the world. » (Klimt02)

EXCHANGE-BIJOU 2 – Reka Lőrincz – you are what you eat

« Jewellery design means the interpretation of today’s world to me. A sort of communication between the outside world and that of my own. Making the invisible visible. Through my jewels I am contemplating the tangled variety of the universe. Heaps of emotions and thoughts pass through my mind through the impulses of the environment which I examine and turn them into objects. I am intrigued by the street. What exactly means what I see. Through my objects I mainly tried to reflect the difference between that of the shown and the real world which can sometimes look appealing, fake or even dangerous. »

Avec tous les médicaments que j’avale (merci mon diabète !!! :-( …) je commencerai par cette broche qui m’enchante !!! entre « boulimie du médoc » et « boulimie du bijou » …… ;-)

« Budapest-based Reka Lörincz is an award-winning artist who typically expresses social criticism – such as concerns with commercialisation, mass production and popular culture –through 3D objects.
Her ‘Too Much is Not Enough” collection  is the perfect example.
Populated with symbols of 1950s diner culture, which are then translated into kitsch and colourful crystal gem-studded jewellery, it’s designed to amuse as much as they provoke. » (Adorn)

« Flora Vagis multilayered brooches are organic and curvilinear, just the opposite of the original structured and bound books. Collecting old books, she removes the pages to create brooches inspired by marine life and floral forms.
Intellectual Recycling” — Vagi enjoys knowing that these old books, once found on someone’s shelf, have gone from inhabiting a private space to a public one when worn on the body.
Vagi, is a celebrated art jeweler who often works with wood. In “Read and Worn” she will show her paper jewelry in the United States for the first time. » (RR Gallery)

We do not like rules; we design our pieces of jewellery according to our own principles and it is this which makes them very diverse from the perspectives of material and technique alike. Although our objects differ from each other, there is one thing all of us are agreed upon. It is that creation with neither restraints nor restrictions, the surmounting of expectations either real or presumed, and the avoidance of conventional thinking – in short, artistic freedom – is, for us, a REFUGE. It is this concept which our exhibition explores.

EXPO ‘Brooch / Bross’ – Sterling Gallery, Budapest (HU) – 26 Mai-17 Juin 2011

The Sterling Gallery cordially invites you to an exclusive exhibition, entitled BROOCH, of young contemporary artists.

https://d15cquu4k8zfpu.cloudfront.net/photos/1243/hl.jpg?1304935474

Sterling Gallery located in Budapest (H) organizing an exclusive exhibition, entitled BROOCH in order to create an interactive information exchange, a dialogue, a conversation or a meeting between Hungarian and international artists from different countries.

The jewel as a « household object » has pronounced functional complexity.
It has both a role and a tradition in each community.
It can be inferred from certain eras, cultures, ethnic groups and lifestyles, habits and thinking.
It might be a sign, or a symbol which is answering to a non-asked question.
It can refer to the wearer’s age, identity, the religious affiliation, marital status.
It is the distinguishing sign of the everyday and the holidays, a status symbol.
It is a part of magical and practical function in people’s lives.
A jewel fits the body and it’s present in clothing.
The jewel expresses the relationship between people.
The brooch, brooches have also been made in the Bronze Age, Greek, Roman and in other European workshops.

These had a functional role as indispensable elements of clothing and self representation.
The brooches had the force to join, screw and fix the fabric of the cloth.
The use of the buttons and buckles took the practical role of the brooch away, but in the same time the aesthetic function of the brooch has been enhanced.

COUP de COEUR ! Flora VAGI

« There are things we can think of, things we can name. Like ‘bread’, ‘pane’, ‘kenyer’, ‘chlieb’ and so on. But there are also lots of things we have no words for.
Search, discover, transform…. surprise, all parts of the process I apply to the pieces. The materials get a ‘return ticket’ from me, and with their ‘newly dressed souls’ I send them back to the world, where they came from.
I make objects, that are intimate and meaningful to their owners who carries them: JEWELLERY, which not only adorns, but ‘talks’ or sometimes ‘whispers. I work in a language that is understood without words and the verbal explanation becomes secondary really, so… »

so …. écoutons ces chuchotements  ! et admirons !

« The objects are trying to be part of an imaginary world, where ‘things’ can decide when to go on, what to become or who to be owned by and not the other way around. Attempting to show beauty beyond ‘injured’ surfaces, they are able to find the familiar look that sees and the words that say something about them.«

COUP de … ROUGE avec Réka FEKETE

« In my work I use zinc plates as “building stones” by randomly sawing and assembling them. Each plate has its special texture, colour and shape. It connects my fascination for spaces and old objects. My recent work includes a collection of wearable objects made out of zinc, additional woven elements and lately I have started using paint and shrinking plastic. From these different materials spaces and imaginary figures arise.
Small details give the pieces character/personality. Details of a journey between inside-oudside, showing- hiding. The wearer decides what to show and what to hide. Who do you let in your world? »  (Réka FEKETE)

« In my work I use old etchingplates of other artists. These etchingplates are full of the marks, drawings and skrechtes that those artists made. Sometimes there is even some colour remains of the printing. The presence of history/time in the material brings us closer to the world of another, to a world that also could be ours. The tracks in the material are like the tracks that are left behind in a house by the occupant. By the obtained colour and patina personality and intimacy will arise.
Like a house tells the story of its occupant a jewel tells the story of the wearer without words. By wearing an object one can build up a more personal link with it.
You move together with the object, it becomes a part of yourself. »
