Aggregated on a soft material, and loose like a net, that takes them to the trap. They become companion insects. Like a Memento mori. »

COUP de COEUR : It was WHITE ….. Romi Bukovec

Classé dans : COUP DE COEUR,rings,Romi BUKOVEC (SI),Slovenie (SI) — bijoucontemporain @ 0:05

Romi Bukovec / Jewellery Designer / Slovenia
About my work : « I am a designer of contemporary jewellery. A person who respect Beauty and Life in all shapes and menifestations. Purity and Simplicity of forms, which are in constant search for a play of light and balance, are my strongest guidelines.
Feelings and communication, which have biggest impact on my inspiration, are brought to me by everyday’s life and by simple objects with their unique stories. Jewellery is my mean to express myself and my inner world to the world that surrounds me.
Every single piece contains a special part of me and my development and it has its own story and background. When a single piece is sent out of my world, it opens for new stories and emotions. Just like when the new life is born. »

Romi Bukovec creates jewellery in her own workshop in Medvode. Self-taught, she has obtained the knowledge necessary for her unique works from the masters of different professions, especially goldsmiths. What is characteristic of her work is the use of different materials and techniques, traditional as well as completely self-created and experimental. The jewelry of Romi Bukovec makes up different collections which differ in terms of design, expression, and the use of carefully and finely treated materials (metals, wood, artificial materials, stone etc). EXPO ‘Hana Karim: fORMINORA’ – Galerija Lična hiša, Ajdovščina (Slovenia) – 26 nov. 2011-6 Janv. 2012

Classé dans : ceramique,Exposition/Exhibition,Hana KARIM (Sl),Slovenie (SI) — bijoucontemporain @ 0:04

Hana Karim : fORMINORA – razstava nakita @ Lična hiša || Ajdovščina

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/385120_301510903206762_130214847003036_1039378_1531706346_n.jpg
Of all collections that have found their way out of my workshop, the very fORMINORA collection most strongly reflects my creativity and my relation to ceramics, which after all is the first and foremost medium of my art design.
The FORMINORA collection attempts to place ceramic products into their non-typical milieus – through contrasting materials as well by enticing softness from ceramic objects, altering their form and assigning them new shapes.
Moreover, each piece of my ceramic jewellery has and tells a story – a story about the fascinating process each piece has to undergo to become a piece of jewellery; a story from the very beginning, when a set of earthly substances pass through fire, until the final transformation into a solid form.
While designing my jewellery I always ponder over the gravity factor, which guides me to the typical exaggerated dimensions that, however, often make me wonder about the wearability and functionality of my jewellery.
The bigger, the heavier is the rule when dealing with ceramics, which in fact impairs the practicality of ceramic jewellery, but, on the other hand, is the key factor in providing and emphasizing the aesthetic attributes of ceramic jewellery.
Contrasts are my passion – light and heavy, rough and gentle, geometric and organic, industrial and handmade. And ceramics precisely is the medium that enables me to explore all these aspects.

So far I have designed two cohesive collections – last year the Geometric/Organic Collection and recently the fORMINORA Collection, which was also exhibited at the Month of Design 2011 in Ljubljana. Both collections incorporate a considerable shift from the established jewellery design to the experimental design. At the same time my collections pay respect to the mother nature, especially to the fire, which is my associate and my best friend in the process of my art design.

COUP de ROUGE ! Ceramic jewelry by Hana Karim

Classé dans : ceramique,COUP DE COEUR,Hana KARIM (Sl),Slovenie (SI) — bijoucontemporain @ 0:08

Hana Karim (Slovénie)

« When creating my ceramics pieces, I can never tell where the creative process will take me from an initial lump of clay up to the point when I take it from my kiln, still a bit warm. I focus on seemingly coincidental shapes, which flow from detailed and structured surfaces to purified smoothness. First and foremost, I engage in uncovering line impressions and incorporating relief features. I have found my artistic voice in combining many different shapes, which intertwined present a unified entity. I like to leave gaps here and there between individual elements – with doing so, I try to achieve primal and natural aspects of my designs. The natural is also portrayed with the help of colors and thus I glaze with gray, black and white shades, yet I add an array of blue shades as well. Glazes, which I use, often develop special effect while baking and this is another feature of designing ceramics, which is a result of chance. Mostly, I design brooches and necklaces. Another demanding part of the whole designing process is shaping the final product; namely choosing the right string and endless possibilities, which accompany the use of it.
Of course, the perfect ending to my ceramics fairy tale is when my work becomes an accessory and adorns a heroin’s outfit. »

COUP de COEUR ! Rosanna Raijevic Ceglar – irregularly patterned knitting wires

… irregularly patterned knitting,  sparkling,  colourfulness ….

« Rosana Raljevič Ceglar (also known as Niiro, her brand’s name) is a jewellery designer located in Slovenia. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, and during her studies she worked and gained experience working at a Murano glass factory, where her job was to create traditional techniques with contemporary design. With a broad knowledge in her pocket she moved back to Slovenia in 2000 and started her own graphic and design studio. On her return she started experimenting with knitting wires in order to create jewellery pieces; what inspired her was the nature around her, the organic structures and the micro-cosmos within each piece of nature she could find. This is how her first collection named ‘Entangled’ started coming together. Her work soon evolved into using more and more irregular shapes, the applied techniques improved and gave her the possibility to develop something never seen in jewellery design. “My enthusiasm about the fact that you can create jewellery statement pieces by using a very irregular and random looking knitting process to create pieces which seem so perfect and neat, just as nature itself,” she tells NJAL. Rosana’s tells us that even though we live in a chaotic world, nature’s perfection is the solution and no matter how simple the things you work with are, in every piece of nature there is a en enormous potential. » (« Not Just a Label » interview)

« Not only the design, but also the structure is inspired by natural forms and textures, which gives the jewellery an impression of a tidy chaos. The supple copper wire maintains the form and imbues the pieces with a sophisticated extravagance «
