Got the BLUES with Emily WAINWRIGHT

Classé dans : COUP DE COEUR,ECOLE / SCHOOLS,Emily WAINWRIGHT (UK),Grande-Bretagne (UK),textile — bijoucontemporain @ 17:07

Emily WAINWRIGHT : « By exploring the potential of stacking, repeating and joining ‘ready-made’ multiples, I have created a collection of tactile textiles samples which push the boundaries between fashion and textiles art. »

Emily Wainwright

Creative Student Award 2012 at  School of the Arts, Loughborough University (UK) : Emily graduated with First Class Honours in (BA Hons) Multimedia Textiles, at Loughborough University School of the Arts in 2012.

Emily Wainwright - 2012

By exploring the potential of stacking, repeating and joining ‘ready-made’ multiples, such as cable ties and curtain hooks to create collections of striking, interactive and large-scale body adornment pieces which merge the boundaries between fashion and installation art; Emily manipulates ordinary, non-textiles materials and objects to create extraordinary aesthetics. She strives to adapt, reinvent and up-cycle non-textiles materials and transforms them into sculptural mixed media textiles. Emily’s work is lead by materials and process as the three dimensional forms are developed through experimentation, mistakes and the exploration of juxtaposing materials, surfaces and techniques. Emily hopes to continue experimenting with combining new and old textiles processes as well as introducing unexpected objects and materials to create exciting, tactile and interactive pieces. She enjoys creating new forms and surfaces whether it be for the Fashion industry, the Interiors market or for a Textiles-Art purpose.

Decouverte : Tea Time with Anna HALL

Classé dans : Anna HALL (UK),Grande-Bretagne (UK),organics,recup' / recycled — bijoucontemporain @ 22:52

I am a jewellery designer from Devon, England……..

Anna Hall is a contemporary jeweller whose work approaches issues of sustainability and value in a unique and inventive way.  She encourages you to question preconceptions of jewellery by juxtaposing traditional techniques with previously unconsidered materials, often utilising objects that traditionally serve a single purpose and are discarded. By incorporating these objects into wearable items they are gaining a new function and encourage us to stop overlooking the things we consider to be mundane and everyday.  In her current series ‘The Tea Collection’, Anna has transformed recycled teabags into an eco-friendly alternative to precious stones and beads which are used to create distinctive and desirable objects.

EXPO ‘Windswept’ – The Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh (UK) – 5-29 Juin 2013

Windswept - Heather Woof

05 Jun 2013 – 29 Jun 2013

Heather Woof is a recent graduate from Edinburgh College of art.

Heather’s current ‘windswept’ collection has been inspired by the wild Scottish weather and is reminiscent of the powerful natural forces which shape the landscape around us. Working with hand cut titanium and mild steel the artist aims to evoke a sense of dynamism in these otherwise static materials. She tries to capture a sense of fluid movement in hard and unyielding metal, to create sculptural pieces, which appear to have been quite literally blown over by the wind.

Coup de coeur : Francesca FLYNN « Out of the BLUE »

For Out The Blue (nov 2012) Kath Libbert has chosen nine new BA and MA graduates from all over the UK:  ‘Spotting and then supporting the work of cutting edge new graduates has always been extremely central to the ethos of the gallery.  Forging a career straight out of college is really challenging. Now, more than ever, it is vital to exhibit and encourage these incredibly talented jewellers at this formative stage in their careers. In this Olympic year we think we can spot a winner….the gold medalists of the future!’

Francesca Flynn ringsFrancesca Flynn  rings

Francesca Flynn, Glasgow School of Art, whose sparkling crystalline collection epitomizes the title of the exhibition, Out The Blue, explores the facets of natural and constructed crystals creating vibrant jewellery.

« I use a combination of metals, moulded resin, rubber coatings, wood and crystal elements. My work explores themes of fragility and impermanence which are developed into wearable objects. I am a graduate of 2012 and will be Artist in Residence at Glasgow School of Art for 2012/13 »

« My interest in the combination of art and science combined with a childhood fascination with rocks and fossils led me to experiment with crystal growth.  I used this initially as a visual source, which then developed as a method and material for creating work.  The vivid blue hue of copper sulphate crystals inspired the colour of resin for this collection.  My work explores the beauty and impermanence of crystals that I have grown and the fragility of natural crystals. I recreate these forms in resin and metal to make my own amalgamated formations which become stable, wearable objects. »
