EXCHANGE-BIJOU 2 – Iro KASKANI « en vedette » at Klimt02 !

Iro Kaskani interviewed by Klimt02

« Recently I realized that my curiosity is the most powerful motivating factor behind my work. I’m curious to see things that I visualize becoming facts, to elaborate an idea, to experiment on a certain technique, to see how this or that material is treated, to investigate on however a vision can be a wearable object and yet to see how others perceive my work. »

Where the LINE is all the story ……….. (aaaah !! « of course » ! she were an architect !!!!)

« Architecture is built environments, planned and designed to function as shelter or vessels of activities and thus it is fostering a physical relationship with the user, inhabitant or viewer. Jewelry takes this physical relationship further into intimacy by the change of scale and placement on the body… »

« Some years ago I used to believe: “my education and experience in architecture is guiding my creativity and my work is mostly determined by the interest to compose fine metals with alternative material and define new forms.”
Later on I concretised my thoughts stating: “Architecture is built environments, planned and designed to function as shelter or vessels of activities and thus it is fostering a physical relationship with the user, inhabitant or viewer. Jewelry takes this physical relationship further into intimacy by the change of scale and placement on the body. Through my work, I find it intriguing to explore ideas of space, scale and absence of symmetry, enabling me to combine precious metals with non-precious elements. Designing jewelry feels like investigating form, structure, and balance to derive a piece of art which will have an intimate physical relationship with the human body and will be completed only when it becomes part of the wearer’s experience and expression. A piece of jewelry is a powerful vehicle for communicating our identity.”
Recently I realized that my curiosity is the most powerful motivating factor behind my work. I’m curious to see things that I visualize becoming facts, to elaborate an idea, to experiment on a certain technique, to see how this or that material is treated, to investigate on however a vision can be a wearable object and yet to see how others perceive my work. »

With the « the space in between » collection I elaborate the idea of creating a void, an empty space. I worked with silver to form cavities and gaps and spaced elements in order to create a void and then, in there, I presented a detailed work of threads

Lidia Puica , un jour de « red envies« , comme on grapillerait une poignée de fruits rouges, de « red berries » …..

« Lidia Puica: ‘I like to have no limits in what I do«

In 2009 Lidia Puica graduated from the Univestity of Decorative Arts and Design in Iasi (Romania) with specialization in Environmental Design, then she completed a Master at the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca (Romania), exploring the contemporary jewelry. After graduation in 2011, she was devoted to jewelry made of unconventional meterials, especially those crocheted. Lidia creates statement pieces with organic inspiration using free technique in crochet exploring shapes and volumes. In this way, the jewelry gets the value of an art object, being associated with some crocheted sculptures.

I have noticed that in Transylvania, the focus is on traditional techniques and materials, and that people are quite open to crafting. »

Selected 4 SCHMUCK 2016 : Ritsuko Ogura

Classé dans : COUP DE COEUR,Japon (JP),No-Gram,Ritsuko OGURA (JP),SCHMUCK / MJW (DE) — bijoucontemporain @ 0:09

Ritsuko Ogura

Congrats to all the artists who made the SCHMUCK 2016 list, on show at the Handwerksmesse  during #munichjewelleryweek  24/02–1/03/2016

Ritsuko Ogura (Born in Osaka in 1951) uses cardboard to make jewellery, giving new life to a material that is normally used for packaging and then discarded after use. She is attracted to the idea that cardboard does not catch people’s attention as a material in itself, as opposed to Japanese paper that is inherently beautiful, so she is able to give this poor material dignity by transforming it into wearable sculptures. She exploits the difficulty encountered in cutting cardboard to her advantage, using this drawback to create new modes of expression. The finished pieces resemble delicate lace-like structures, with the inclusion of colour in some parts, or simply left the natural brown of the original cardboard used. Ogura has in time mastered this humble material and skilfully creates voluminous pieces to be worn or simply admired. (No-gram)

Her work has taken part in exhibitions internationally, and received major awards. Ritsuko’s works are made with cardboard, poor material and intended to discard. With her ability and extraordinary sensitivity in the processing of the surface and the use of color, she creates pieces of high design, to wear or even just to admire.

Decouverte / COUP de COEUR : Mirka Janeckova – WHITE is WHITE

Mirka Janeckova

« I see my jewellery as a container for wearer’s emotions, memories and hopes. For creating my recent work I was inspired by surrealism and indigenous cultures.
My pieces refer to the body in an abstract way, exploring the relationship between people and their subconscious mind.
I am concentrating on using only ‘white’ materials as porcelain, silver, aluminium and textile to create playful, poetic pieces. White light contains all the others colour of the spectrum so for me it is a symbol of the unity.
I am experimenting with hybrid metal-porcelain jewellery and developing an innovative ways of applying traditional metalsmith techniques onto porcelain such as casting porcelain in place and cloisonné enamel on porcelain » (to shop at Neuner schmuck)

» (PreziosaMagazine)

Montserrat Lacomba, from blog « mar de Color Rosa » has opened her workshop to public ….

Classé dans : blog Mar de Color Rosa,Espagne (ES),Montserrat LACOMBA (ES),SHOP — bijoucontemporain @ 21:24

Atelier Montserrat Lacomba – ouverture 15 nov 2014

My colleague & friend Montserrat Lacomba from blog Mar de Color Rosa has opened her workshop to public : « November 15th, 2014 I invite you to the opening of my shop/workshop at Plaça de Sant Pere 2 in Girona« . VERY nice place with her nice & pleasant jewels ! A MUST GO if you visit Girona.

A lot of little enameled pieces, very pleasant to wear, are waiting for you ! :-)

« Mar de color rosa » : she works « with colors » as she says, colors of Mediterranean, of sea, clouds & sky, of plants & fishes, and all is happy, fresh, colorful but not too much, easy & pleasant to wear …. I recommend !!! :-)

Atelier Montserrat -ouverture 15 nov 2014« taller obert » !

« What would happen if the color of the snow were the color of ripe wheat or Coke? And what if the green of herbs became the tonality of dried beans? Where would we end up if one day gravity stopped? It could be that chickens will one day fly majestically like eagles and lambs learn to climb trees to shelter from the sun. Let’s not be surprised if one morning the sea no longer reaches the beach, allowing us to see what lies on the seabed. It would be less of a surprise if Lewis Carol’s “Alice” did not return from the hidden world behind the mirror because she thinks that life there is better. And what would happen if sea water were opaque and did not reflect the blue skies, yellow skin or scratched skies of bloody sunrises and sunsets? In the unlikely event upon which this might have occurred, Montserrat would have saved a sea, the pink sea (Mar de Color Rosa). That is the explanation of her brand. » –

Many thanks to my husband Agustí for this beautiful text!!!
