Corrado de MEO : BLACK is BEAUTIFUL

Classé dans : Corrado De MEO (IT),COUP DE COEUR,Italie (IT),www Klimt02 — bijoucontemporain @ 0:43

Corrado de Meo :

« The first cognitive act that I do in front of whatever object is the definition of its volumes and to follow its design in space and to define in its forms exposed to light; what follows is the desire to harmonize those analyzed forms within their structure, in another very complex form as that of human body.
This study commits me so to compose a fundamental sector of my research that its fine is to give an unexpected lightness to those volumes using very light materials. In my jewelry, I want also to project my awareness in their process of execution, crystallizing the phases of transformation into substance in which they are made. I ask myself to point out the phases of their becoming, to discover harmony and balance present in each phase in which matter mysteriously takes form, following those laws that regulate its structure participating in the reality of all the things, in the world that are in constant and continuous transformation.
Observing afterwards, a colored form I don’t only feel a visible emotion, because color initially belongs to the domain of unconscious, subsequently to that of reason of mind, and in taking shape expressing its sonorities becomes a global perception that speaks to our entire essence. »

« One of the keywords in Corrado De Meo’s jewellery is volume. The volumes he creates interact with the space surrounding the object and consequently define the harmony these structures create with the human body. The weightlessness of his jewellery contradicts what is seen and, as a result, creates surprise. In fact, the lightness of his works is unexpected. The materials De Meo chooses to work with are transformed in the working process. He is fascinated by the transformation and metamorphosis that materials undergo during the working process. With colour, the artist performs an initial instinctive act that is subsequently confirmed as being a conscious action that becomes “a global perception that speaks to our entire essence”. » (No-Gram)

DECOUVERTE : Andra LUPU – « crushed »

Classé dans : Andra LUPU (RO),COUP DE COEUR,DECOUVERTE,Roumanie (RO) — bijoucontemporain @ 0:04

Andra LUPU

« crushed »

« Crushed is what you feel when something beautiful is ending, crushed is how you feel when you lose someone dear… But every ending is a new beginning, it’s up to you how you start over, or whether if you take the good or the bad of every experience.
In my new collection, I use thin layers of « crushed » melted silver, to create a jewellery as a metaphor to the fragility of life, relationships, feelings… »

Discovered thanks to AUTOR – On her FB page you can see the great rings she does …
Andra LUPU – « crushed »: Andra Lupu – planets ring
« Andra Lupu is a contemporary jewelry designer. She has gratuated the University of Arts and Design, Cluj-Napoca, Romania with a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Design. She is working with metal: silver, gold, copper and brass combined with gemstones, wood and plastic. In 2012, she atended a workshop organized by Lucia Masei, about “Pigments on metal”, at Alchimia , School of contemporary Jewelry, Florence, Italy. She likes experimenting when it comes to her work, considering jewelry a continuous game of different materials, textures and formal contrasts, being mostly intrigued by the interaction between the jewelry and the wearer. « I think I like to create rings because of the dynamic relashionship between the piece itself and the worn surface. I like to watch the audience’ reaction reagarding my creations. It is not the inherent value of the jewelry that I emphasize, rather its capacity of innovation and experiment. » (NotjustAlabel)

Jane D’Arensbourg – Glass Jewelry / Lighting
+  Amy Ruppel – Monoprints / Paintings

Opening / Artist Reception:  Saturday March 28,  5-8pm

 Illume - Jane D'Arensbourg - Glass Jewelry

Shibumi Gallery is pleased to announce, Illume, a joint show with jeweler / sculptor Jane D’Arensbourg and printmaker Amy Ruppel.
Illume is an investigation into cast light, shadows and the creations of patterns and forms.

Jane D’Arensbourg uses glass as a vehicle to capture light, energy and a sense of fragility with her work.  She views her jewelry and lighting as functional art.
« There is a time in the day in my studio when the sun pours in and everything comes to life as sunlight slowly travels around my studio, casting beams of light through all of the glass sculptures, jewelry, lighting, and experiments. Light vibrates through the skeletal facets, corners and open planes. The shadows cast on surfaces is this energy broken up into patterns which can be used as a vehicle for meditation by the viewer. »
D’Arensbourg studied glass art at California College of Arts and Crafts as well as the Pilchuck School of Glass.  After working more sculpturally, she began making jewelry in 2001.
She currently lives and works in New York City.
