During SCHMUCK 2015 – EXPO ‘Blanco’ – Steinstr. 59, Munich (DE) – 11-15 Mars 2015

 Opening 11 mars 16-20 h

BLANCO will be presenting works from Aaron Patrick Decker, Anke Huyben, Babs Zwanink, Christie Schellings and Steven Gordon Holman - https://www.facebook.com/events/1538628356426884/permalink/1538628483093538/:

We present to you BLANCO, an international group of young jewellery makers. Within the connecting point of the Academy of Fine Arts in Maastricht we all developed our own approach to the making of jewellery, at the same time we were always fascinated by eachother. Our diversity is characterized by following subjects: the ideal of beauty, one’s self-awareness, aesthetics and oddness, tactile perception and fragility, as well as the use of symbols in our visual culture, the bridgeover of cultural differences and the confrontation with the past. Now the time has come to continue our creative exchange and open up to the audience. BLANCO is a starting point for us as beginners and a meeting point. Therefor we like to cordially invite you to our exhibition.

There’s always a beginning, an opportunity to grow.

BLANCO is our chance to grow within an international group of young designers. Our different perspective on jewellery design connects us as BLANCO. Now the time has come to continue our creative exchange and open up to the audience for the second time. Therefore we like to cordially invite you to the BLANCO exhibition.

» What is heavy? What is light? We judge what is important and unimportant depending on our mind set. Today we are hanging jewellery.

Viewed from outer space, the earth appears to be covered with a web of lights. A lace network of order, woven together by illuminated threads. Forces hold everything in its place. Gravity defines weight, the planets pull on one another and rotate in axis and orbits. »

During SCHMUCK 2015 – EXPO ‘MAD Exhibitionists’, Munich (DE) – 11-16 Mars 2015

Walking exhibition « MAD exhibitionists »

master students of the MAD-Faculty, PXL, Hasselt

Beginning Wednesday, 11. March 2015 16 h

MAD 2015

As ‘MAD Exhibitionists’ eight master students Object & Jewellery of the Mad-Faculty in Hasselt, Belgium* will be presenting a sneak preview of their master projects.

MAD Exhibitionists’ refers to the way the pieces will be shown. Isn’t wearing contemporary jewellery comparable to exhibitionism ? And isn’t looking closely to worn jewellery invading someone’s private space? In this walking exhibition, the ‘MAD Exhibitionists’ will be flashing: They will lift their display coats like clandestine jewellery sellers in the streets. No need to be scared of them, it’s only to show you their work and get some feedback. You are reassured it’s appropriate for all ages.
You can meet the students between the 11th and 16th of march 2015, every day from 10am until late at night, walking through Munich City.
Follow them on Facebook ‘MAD Exhibitionists’ for exact times and locations, and don’t miss them! But don’t worry, they will pop-up in the right places at the right time.

*The department of ‘Object & Jewellery’ at the MAD-Faculty offers an artistic academic course, consisting of three bachelor years and one master year. The program revolves around experimentation and research, for which thinking and doing are in constant interaction. The ambiguous position that the field of object-making and jewellery takes within the world of the visual arts, crafts and design is seen as an inspiring starting point that is constantly questioned in order to develop a critical attitude towards our own discipline.

EXPO ‘Arritmia’ – Amaranto Joies Galeria, Barcelona (ES) – 5 Mars-4 Avril 2015

Borax08001 welcome you to join us for the opening of Arritmianext Thursday March 5th, from the bottom of our hearts.  This exhibition has a special meaning since it’s an ideal occasion to meet once again in Barcelona, the city that watched us develop as jewellers and as a collective, almost five years ago. This show will be hosted by Amaranto Joies, a true example of a gallery committed to contemporary artistic jewellery and its dissemination.

Exhibition from the 5th of march till the 4 of April 2015.

Arritmia

During an arrythmia the heart can beat too fast, too slow or in an irregular manner. Understanding the creative process as an arrythmia is a metaphor that brings us closer to the reality that the Bórax08001 collective has experienced since its beginnings. With Arritmia the collective wishes to reflect these diverse states, through a selection of jewels created in recent times. Being an exhibition that displays the rhythm of our creative beats and variations in frequency which make each member shine by their own personal imprint.

Opening Reception: Friday January 23, 6-8 pm

Jane Dodd: Rococo Revolution

Inspired by a recent tour of European museums, palaces, and treasure houses, Jane Dodd: Rococo Revolution illustrates the artist’s simultaneous experience of seduction and repulsion to the sumptuous and decadent housing of these elite collections. Referencing a contemporary interpretation of the late Baroque aesthetic, Dodd’s meticulously carved bone and wood pieces take the form of wearable objects, each representing symbolic elements drawn from the natural world.  According to the New Zealand based artist:

Rococo Revolution… illustrates my discomfort with the way we hoover up wildlife and environment for our own frivolous ends. With these pendants I want to honor the simple, elegant forms of the animal world. The subject of the brooches is the battle between nature and culture. The collection of works pays homage to the crazy and rich craft traditions of the Rococo Age.
