In an age of globalization when artists travel to numerous places, how relevant is their nationality in an artistic context?
What do we mean when we talk about Portuguese, Mexican and Brazilian contemporary art in the 21st century’?
What do we mean when we say that jewelry can identify a people and a culture?
What do we mean when we talk about Portuguese, Mexican and Brazilian contemporary art in the 21st century’?
Why do we mean when we say that a people and a culture can be identified by their jewelry?
Could it nowadays only identify an epoch?
// question the cultural identity and heritage of participating artists
// display works without showing the artists’ names and nationalities
// look at the way jewelry manufacturing undergoes changes and is affected by other materials and techniques
// reflect on concepts of identity and the way our past surfaces in the present
// foster a debate on the response of the public and reveal the artists’ names and nationalities when the event closes
Draw up the themes that PIN elected to embody the Twenty-Three. Contemporary Jewelry in the Ibero-America exhibition to promote a reflection on contemporary manufacturing that will make us re-think the cultural heritage of each artist and the relations this establishes.
Each of the 23 areas that make up the exhibition plan where the pieces are displayed represents a member nation of UCCI – Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities.
The artists’ names and nationalities are not displayed in order that their cultural identity and heritage can be probed and questioned.
The public is invited to seek the origin of each group of artists and interact in loco by trying to discover their nationality – and leave a flag sticker at each area.

Triple Parade exhibitions in Tianjin & Beijing Exhibition / 10 Nov 2016 - 17 Jan 2017 - Tianjin Shengxi Museum of Fine Arts & Gauguin Gallery Beijing

The main exhibition TRIPLE PARADE 2016 -  Dialogue Across You and Me to Them: Creator, Wearer, Viewer  – Central Traveling Exhibition Represented 110 jewellery designers & artists from 14 countries.

The Triple Parade 2016 international annual exhibition is a cultural exchange which is expanded between China and the rest of the world on a multitude of level, devoted to the hardcore awakening in jewellery design, with a very open and contemporary-oriented approach by focusing on the concept of dialoguing.

The pervious themes were: Triple Parade 2015 – Dialogue across Three Countries, Triple Parade 2014 – Dialogue across Three Generations. This year, the term Dialogue across You and Me to Them: Creator, Wearer, Viewer in our theme is vitally important marks the notion of social interaction. We believe that the significance and multiple capacities of the dialogue mark have not been truly recognized. Each of the three roles in a dialogue, which are briefly introduced in the plate sections devoted to them, addresses one perspective on how  » Dialogue » plays a progressive position in the contemporary jewellery design of our period. Jewellery examines how we define self, integration and segregation, the means used for communication – and how these issues are reflected in creative work.

the artists and designers will be part of this year’s TRIPLE PARADE Central Exhibitions are:

» TRIPLE PARADE 2016 will open its door at 10th NOV in Tianjin in China, it embraced the aspirations in a great ambition, setting up an intensive program consisting of exhibitions, publication, workshops, forum, lecture, which included dialogues with international collaboration partners from Netherlands, United States, United Kingdom, China, Denmark, Spain. The exhibition represented an enormous challenge to everyone involved in purely quantitative terms: with over 260 works by more than a hundred designers and artists from 14 countries. 11 experts from 8 countries have been exclusively invited to be in Tianjin as speaker on the Design Forum. The publication consists of 7 groups of interviews, including 14 experts on board, giving perspectives from education, collecting, creating, curating, wearing, and dealing on contemporary jewellery design. I am confident that it will open up new perspectives on the giant, and I would like to invite all the visitors to discover the greatly relevant designs from a field so full of surprises, with such a future ahead of it. » Jie Sun (founder of Triple Parade)

Snapshot – photography project with Diana Laires:
Words cannot say much about jewellery. You have to see, feel and wear the pieces on the body. You have to live with them. Only then, the pleasure of the thought and made, of the formulated and fabulated with ideas, desires and matters, can irradiate fascination.
What should remain is the joy and the desire to understand and wear these pieces of jewellery as symbols of your own personality. /Jens-Rudiger Lorenzen (adapted) in Contemporary Jewelry, Stuttgart, 1989

Blank by Marc Monzó Exhibition / 10 Jun-10 Jul 2015 - Klimt02 Gallery Barcelona(Blank pendnt & ring – 2015 – 18 kt gold)

Marc Monzó presents on his second solo show at Klimt02 Gallery, the new body of work Blank. A series of 6 pieces worked out from industrially produced gold sheets without any treatment. At the exhibition will be also a selection of recent iconic works. The best opportunity to see and appreciate the craft skills of the Barcelona jeweler, one of the most internationally renowned Catalan artists.

Marc Monzó Bracelet: Eclipse, 2014 Silver 70 x 70 mmMarc Monzó Bracelet: Eclipse, 2014 Silver 70 x 70 mm

« Blank is a collection of objects open to interpretation, entities straddling two states. They generate dialogue between a noble material, gold, and a bare appearance, with no finish: pieces made from  industrially produced gold sheets bent into shape, assembled and welded. The objects strike a fragile balance, but are clear and sincere at the same time. They are almost prototypes, produced through the minimum amount of operations. They have been made by hand, with virtually no tools, as if without technique or craftsmanship, with no desire to control. They display their limitations, the difficulties involved in their manufacture, their adjustments and corrections.
Their shape does not lie or conceal; it reflects a procedure, a way of working. They are the record of the operations to which they have been subjected, the memory of what has happened to them. They look as if they have been made quickly, as if absent-mindedly, in an embryonic form; yet in fact they embody a life of patience, learning and dedication. « / David Steegman

« I collect real objects and images, seized from my daily surroundings. In fact, my studio is an endlessly growing collection of bits and pieces, both visible and invisible that becomes parts of a map I keep updating and revising. My work is a treasure hunt among things and ideas finally fashioning into pieces of jewellery made to be desired, worn, questioned, or loved. «  Marc Monzó
