FANTASTICI !

Contemporary Italian Jewellery

from September 26 until October 13, 2013, the gallery will display major Italian contemporary jewellery exhibition “FANTASTICI! Contemporary Italian Jewellery”. This exhibition is a collaboration between Art Gallery Putti and the Association of Italian Contemporary jewellery AGC (Associazione Gioiello Contemporaneo).

An international group exhibition “Conceptual Jewellery” in 2011 with Italian artists exhibiting their work in the Art Gallery Putti  is view-pointed as the beginning of a friendly cooperation foundation with the association’s AGC representatives in Italy.

Italian Association for Contemporary jewellery AGC is a noteworthy platform for both emerging and already acknowledged Italian jewellery artists. It is a non-profit organization, established in Trieste in 2004 in order to develop and promote contemporary art jewellery. It entails artistic research, renewal of the ornament ideas and experimentation with new materials and technologies, as well as maintaining the historical tradition of skills and abilities. The exhibition “FANTASTICI! Contemporary Italian Jewellery”, is understandably presumed to become a unique event in the Latvian cultural space.

EXPO ’1X1 collective’ – Vander A Gallery, Bruxelles (BE) – 31 Mai-30 Juin 2012

1×1 Collective is a project born in Florence in 2010 to promote and diffuse contemporary art jewelry through exhibitions, fairs, and events. It is an open and ever-changing collective of independent jewelry artists.

Artistic and technical research and the freedom of experimentation make the jewelry gain new functions and meanings.

For this exhibition at vander A gallery in Brussels, they present 8 international artists, very different one from the other, all met in Alchimia school, Florence, wellknowned for its experimental jewellery and design schollarship.

1X1 collective1×1 Collective is open to collaborations, in the jewelry field as outside, to find new ways for showing original works to a wider public.
1×1 Collective changes its shape, leader and location following each project. It is an informal group of people based on active involvement, cooperation and sharing of ideas, knowledge and skills for the common goal of understanding and being understood.
For this exhibition there is not a theme because they want to focus on each artist’s personal approach and research, they believe that each one’s individuality and autonomy is one of the strenght of contemporary art jewelry and that it gets highlighted through the free dialogue of a collective exposition.

SCHMUCK 2012 en Valencia (Spain) – 4 Avril-27 Mai 2012

Pinned Image

This academic year 2011-2012, the Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny de València is celebrating the first ten years of the creation of the Department of Jewellery, independent of the fact that the study of this discipline with its various subjects and workshops has existed for a much longer time. To mark this anniversary we have organised an ambitious programme of activities, exhibitions and talks on contemporary jewellery giving it the name MELTING POINT 2012. Joieria Contemporània València.
For one month the EASD de València and indeed the whole city will be the focal point in the south of Europe for artists, designers, specialists, collectors, academics, and the general public with an interest in the field.
We are extremely grateful to all those persons and institutions wich have believed in this project and have chosen to collaborate with us. It is as well a project closely related to an event, Schmuck 2012, wich can well be called a dream made reality. Schmuck is visiting Spain for the very first time and we have succeeded in making Valencia the city wich will receive what is without a doubt the most prestigious exhibition of contemporary jewellery in Europe, wich can be viewed for two months in the MuVIM.
We believe that this discipline, as yet underestimated and with so much yet to be done in terms of development and consolidation in Spain, will benefit hugely gaining a more fully deserved recognition of the possibilities which jewellery offers as a language of the plastic arts, as well as in the area of study plans.
This celebration is clearly not without its revindication. We are asking that the different educational bodies raise the level of the study of jewellery to a parallel level as that enjoyed in other countries of a similar cultural and economic background as ours. Only thus will our professionals not need to accept inferior conditions within the European market and will we be able to erradicate the evident comparative slur. We have the human resources as well as the programmes. Now we only need the conviction and the political will. We wish to extend this revindication to the other artistic departments of Photography, Applied Arts, and Audiovisual Media. It is incomprehensible that in 2012 these fields still have not received this level of study and preparation.
For all these reasons we wish to invite you to come and acquaint yourselves with the work of so many international jewellers of both sexes who will be meeting in vlc over these days; to discover the techniques and the expressive potential of contemporary jewellery; in short, to enjoy its multiple languages. And above all, we wish to share the experience with you.

Klassiker der Schmuck 2012
Jens Rüdiger Lorenzen, Deutschland

This year there will be a retrospective exhibition of the work of a « Modern Classic » designer. In 2012 the chosen designer is the German goldsmith Jens Rüdiger Lorenzen. Together with Francesco Pavan, Lorenzen was the first goldsmith to be awarded the Herbert Hofmann Prize, back in 1973. The award presentation ceremony, which this year is being held on Saturday, 17 March 2012, is always one of the highlights at SCHMUCK. Lorenzen, who was born in 1942 in Hagen, Westphalia, taught at the « Staatliche Zeichenakadamie » in Hanau from 1974 to 1985, while also acting as a visiting lecturer at the « Hochschule für Gestaltung » in Pforzheim, at which college he then, in 1985, took up an appointment as a professor. He continued to teach there in the jewellery design department until retiring in 2008.

“Schmuck-Show 2012” is a jewellery presentation with professional models, set in an exceptional light and sound design. With the cooperation of several artists who exhibit their works at different places in Munich during these ‘Jewellery Days’, on the evening before the start of the trade fair jewellery is being presented directly on the body. The jewellery stirs emotions and prompts diverse conversations. At the bar, artists, jewellery lovers and laymen meet; there is room for an animated exchange. The project has been initiated by Olga Zobel Biro
